Okay, I do not usually do so many quizzes, but this one was kind of fun.  Do not ask me what the last question means..... I am very removed from popular culture, so that might explain it!  LOL!

What Part of Thanksgiving Are You?

You Are The Stuffing
You're complicated and complex, yet all your pieces fit together.
People miss you if you're gone - but they're not sure why.

Pumpkin Fudge

3 cups sugar
3/4 cup melted butter
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 Tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 (12 oz) package white chocolate morsels
1 (7 oz) jar marshmellow creme
1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Stir together the first six ingredients in a 3 1/2 quart
saucepan over medium high heat, cook and stir
constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
Cook stirring constantly until candy thermometer
reads 234 degrees (soft ball stage) or for about
12 minutes. Remove pan from heat, stir in remaining
ingredients until well blended. Pour into a greased
aluminum foil-lined pan (9 inch square) and let it
stand 2 hours or until completely cool. Cut fudge into
squares...makes about three pounds.

Basic Cracker Dough

My kiddos Love this!!!!!

Basic Cracker Dough

1/2 cup of softened butter, not too soft, just room temp
1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Thats the basic mix. Yeah, I know, simple huh? You can mix this up in a nice batch, roll it out onto wax paper, roll it up, and slice it out thinly to put in the oven to bake. You can even shape it into squares before cutting by using the wax paper to hold it while you shape it, or triangles...make sure you chill this for 30 minutes before slicing.

Once sliced, lay them out, bake 10 - 12 minutes, and sprinkle with salt right after coming out!

Adding more butter will give them a nice buttery taste...

Adding hot sauce, paprika, chili powder, and cheddar cheese will make a Mexican cracker...sprinkle with more paprika when theyre baked...

Adding garlic, parmesian cheese, oregano, parsley, and thyme will give it an Italian taste...

Add red pepper flakes and hot sauce for a spicey cracker for tomato soups..

Add ranch dressing or onion soup to it and youve got some very rich, but yummy crackers that go great with cream cheese dip...

You can add anything to this batter and it bakes up nice! Just make sure you dont make it too liquidy to keep them together as they bake!

Now for those that dont know me......I AM A BIG GIRL.....I dont get cold.....so this is cold.  My dh is off and my youngest has a cold. They are cuddled up on the couch snuggling and the boys have finished their schoolwork and have gone out to hunt.....heehee ( dont know what they will get with there little pea shooters....) Anyway. I have a headache, I cant get warm,  andI have  a ton of laundry to catch up on today and tommorrow will be a day of cooking and prepping for Thanksgiving.
I do have 8 gallons of heavy whipping cream on the table coming to room temperature so that I can make homemade butter for our freezer and meal for thursday. I have 6 more gallons that I am saving for desserts and candies for the next month. I am blessed to have a friend that gives me this out of the kindness of her heart! What a blessing. I am thankful for her.
Tommorrow I am making 4 dozen rolls. My extended family has requested that I make white rolls (GASP!) They arent used to whole wheat so we I will make what they want.  I am also bringing a cranberry salad and homeade butter and a mincemeat pie. We will be eating at my moms and both my brothers and their families will be there also. My dear sister will be at home in Montana( we live in Idaho). I will truley miss her. Wish we could get together more often.
The cranberry salad was a salad I had at a recent church function. Had to hunt down the recipe, but it was SOOOO GOOD!
I will share it with you.

I think this is interesting, and I can accept this assessment of my personality, but.... isn't basil an herb, not a spice?

oh, and I think there is a mistype on it - I hope I am loved by MOST people, not POST people!  LOL

What Spice Are You?

You Are Basil
You are quite popular and loved by post people.
You have a mild temperament, but your style is definitely distinctive.
You are sweet, attractive, and you often smell good.

For those of you that don't I would like to share some of the things that I have been working on these past weeks. A while back I went to a watercolor class with my bestest friend from Florida ( you may remember me talking about it HERE. ) Well I have been working on my technique but on a much much much smaller scale. I went from painting on 12 X 18 canvas to 2.5 X 3.5 inch cards. Anyway, here is some of my latest works. To see more visit MY ARTSY BLOG

Thanks for coming by today and be sure to leave a comment.

Simple Women's Daybook

[simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg]

For TodayNovember 24th, 2008

Outside my Window…  The temp is a mere 31* , the sky is grey, the trees are bare and there is still a bit of snow on the ground. I don't see a bird in site, nor a dog or a horse. I think everyone is hiding somewhere keeping warm from the chilly chilly night we had.

I am thinking…of catching up on laundry (gosh there has to be an end in there somewhere)

From the learning rooms. lots of school lessons. I think we are going to start doing 'presentations' again. Seems the children can use some practice in that area. We will begin with researching an inventor, making a visual and then planning out the speach part of it. We are also starting a new Unit Study using the book "Number the Stars by Lois Lowry". We will learn more on the civil war and the areas in which it all took place. Should be an exciting week.

I am thankful for…  A healing Lord., ("Lord, heal this vessel of mine, take away the symptoms of this oncoming cold and open my airways so that I make breath easily and carry on making the improvements in our home. AMEN.)...  my husband, my children and my friends, my creative hands, my art. I am so thankful for my fully stocked pantry, meat in the freezer and the ability to learn to be more frugal.

From the kitchenIt is completely silent, no-one up yet to make any noise. I can smell the aroma of the pot of coffee my dear hubby started before leaving to get a load of hay. MMmm think I will go and grab a cup. :-)

I am wearingblue pajama leggings, an green over sized t-shirt. and thick warm comfy socks. I found these leggins at the thrift store the other day and oh how I wish I could find a dozen more. Seems these are perfect for me. My legs often hurt so much during the night (A combination of neuropothy and fibro) and with the way the hug the ankle they don't climb up exposing my ankles to the cool air. I have really got to hunt some down. :-)

I am reading…"Preparing My Heart for Advent: A Spiritual Pilgrimage for the Christmas Season"
by Ann Marie Stewart, My Bible, and Numbering the Stars.

I am hopingthat all my friends around the world and all of my extended family members are warm, fed, and blessed beyond belief.

I am creatingseveral new postcards and ATC's for swapping (you can see these HERE ) and lots of little Christmas tree ornaments. The children and I are working on making 200 so that we can bless the children's cancer center for Christmas.

I am hearingthe heat running,  the wind blowing and the clicking of the computer keyboard. Ahhhh quiet!

Around the housenot a creature is stiring., not even a mouse!

One of my favorite things is creating creating and receiving art work. Sharing the day with my family and spending time with hubby when he is off work. Hummmmm wonder what we will do today!

I am praying formy families unity, a clean and organized house, all my friends hither and yon.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Weekfinishing the organization of all the totes spread here and there and putting them down on the storage shelves, cleaning up the whole office so I can do something with these walls.

What I accomplished since last weekquite a few postcards and ATC's, crocheted a lot of dish cloths and pot holders, practiced my watercolor techniques. oh and lots and lots of school work!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Have a wonderful week everyone. If you would like to read more of the Simple women's daybook entries just visit HERE.

pumpkin update

{ Posted by Morning Sunshine }
{ 05:35 AM , Monday, November 24, 2008 } { 1 comments } { Link }
well, I got 70 bottles of pumpkin.  70.  I was not expecting that.  I was definitely not planning on having to use 70 of my quart jars for pumpkin.  Remind me not to buy a huge monster of a pumpkin again.  I roasted all the seeds so my son would not be tempted to grow one.  LOL!  We will see in a bit exactly how much that makes in relation to the cans I can buy at the store.  We will see.
We had some friends up this weekend.  I showed them how to make soap, and we talked and my children just thought K (the husband) was the best thing that has ever happened to them!  I think they are convinced that K&M came up solely to play with them.  Silly children.  hehehe.  It was a long weekend (do not get me wrong - it was fun and I love having them, but it makes a long weekend....) and I am glad to get onto a regular schedule this week.  what?  it is Thanksgiving week?  oh bah!  No normal week for me!
ds7 is going to the Nutcracker tomorrow with the homeschool group, and I think the girls and I will do some Christmas shopping while he is there.  I also have a ticket to the play, but the theater was a little alarmed at the number of adults we had per children - I guess they like the more unsupervised public school child to adult ratio better.  So I am going to talk to Bug and ask if he will be polite and attentive if I am not there and he is sitting with another hs mom I know.  I have hopes this will work out - he is generally very well behaved if I am not around,  I do not get it.
Thursday morning we are headed to SL to my mom's for the ritualistic feasting and fete-ing.  Friday morning, mom will watch the kids (let them coat gingerbread houses with candy - eye roll) while we go to see Twilight.  I know, I am breaking one of my cardinal rules - never see a movie made from a book I like.  But, I have hopes for this one.  I had hopes for Harry Potter too, but quit after the second movie.  I have not and will NOT watch the Narnia movies - I love the books tooooo much.  I did not like TLotR books, so the movies were great for me.  But off we go to see Twilight.
So, no normal week for me.  sigh.  well, I guess I had better get to going and starting my week.  have a great one.
