Although I haven't posted in a while, I have been popping back here to this warm, welcoming spot to read a few postings, get inspired, and grab some ammunition for the daily battle. Thanks to all of you who are so consistent to post and share your hearts. You touch people's lives without even knowing it!!
(I almost forgot how to add html code to make a new paragraph!)
I've been teaching full time since September and dad's been homeschooling while returning to school in the evenings for his master's degree. Also, he's been elected to our local school board and approached by McGraw Hill to be on the advisory board of their new math text book. Wow! He's very excited about all this.
As some of you know, we've been working hard with Jack and his behavior issues. We tried three (count 'em three!) ADHD meds...all of which made his "symptoms" worse. We finally got accepted into a special program at one of our hospitals for kids who suffer from behavior difficulties. After two days, the psychiatrist and behavior therapists are giving us a diagnosis of bi-polar.
I have spent three days on my knees (figuratively and physically) seeking comfort and guidance. We started a new med: Abilify. It seems to be helping Jack with the mood swings and he seems to be happier. We need to go another week or so and see if it really is helping. Also, the behavior modification program is helping him as well.
God must be preparing Jack (and us) for something...we just don't know what it is at this time. I am starting some research into homeschooling bi-polar kids. The desire of my heart is to finish out my year of teaching full time and then stay home to take over while Mitch returns to work. I don't foresee Jack back at school just yet...maybe that's just me continuing to protect him. He's meeting with so much more success now than ever before and I want that to continue!
Whenever I google "homeschool" and "bi-polar" I get information about Waldorf schools. Any advice or information from anyone about Waldorf?
Jack has been sleeping so much better since we started the Abilify...he wakes up every morning and informs me that "God defeated the devil again...no bad dreams!" As I continue to pray for understanding and guidance, at least I know my munchkin is feeling a little better!
Blessings to all as we enter this Advent season! Connie

I will be also praying that God would continue to deliver your son from evil...I personally know satan will use even the weakest (children) to seek, kill and destroy...but God always has the victory.
