Home Sweet Simple Home

He is in the small things

I love that God is in the small stuff. I love it when He opens my eyes to the little ways that He takes care of me. I love it when I can view a frustrating situation thru the filter of His love and care.
For example: The weather here has been obnoxiously, hideously bitter cold. It was in the minus teens over the weekend. I mentioned to Mr. Steady on Saturday and again on Sunday that he should think about starting his car so that there wouldn’t be any surprise problems come Monday morning. He didn’t do it.
It frustrated me but I didn’t say anything as I have learned it is better not to. When he got up to go to work on Monday, I prayed for him. Mr. Conductor called out in his sleep and after I checked on him, I looked out to see that Mr. Steady couldn’t start his car and was pulling my car around to jump his. I was thinking to myself, “Just take my car, just take my car.” Not only did he not take my car but he was sweet enough to pull it back around and park it again. I prayed again as he drove away.
He called me a bit later on in the morning and asked me not to go anywhere. I assured him that with all the school and business closings and obviously icy roads I would not be. He then said, “Well, that’s not the only reason. You’ve got a flat tire. I didn’t notice it until after I pulled the car back in your spot.”
Ahem. God was at work all along. If Mr. Steady had started his car over the weekend, he would never have moved my car and noticed the flat. Conceivably, the flat would have gone unnoticed until I went to leave for MOPS this morning. God knew that we needed to know that tire was flat in advance!
Isn’t He an awesome God? That He would care that I’ve got a flat tire and don’t even know it?!
I am again reminded that He cares about every aspect of my life, down to the minute details.

If I go up to the heavens, You are there, O Lord;
if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there Your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139:8-10

I will guide you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths,
says the Lord.      Proverbs 4:11

Thanx for the reminder that we need to take a step back and remember God in the little things!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
