Two wonderful packages came in the mail today from my dear sweet completely wonderful friend Frieda. What a treat!
Frieda has her own etsy shop and sews the most gorgeous bags. Truly.
I knew Frieda was making me a tote bag and I asked her for some shopping bags but I had no idea what they would look like. What a wonderful surprise, don’t you think?
Aren’t they scrumptious!?!
Here’s my new tote- its 16 inches across and 12 inches long and has wonderful pockets, and a clip- for my cell phone (quite handy).
Here are 2 of my new shopping bags—I cannot wait to use these!
The shopping bags measure 15 inches tall & the bottom measures 7 inches wide.
Perfection! Notice that she made some different handles for me- one has double handles, two have a nice wide single handle and the flowered bag has an extra long (and wide) strap!
And the other two:
Oh, I just can’t wait to use them! Maiden said I’ll be “shopping in style”.
Now a question- when you go to the regular grocer- such as Wal-Mart- do you tell them you have your own bags- do you offer them your bags or do you bag your items while they scan them? I’m wondering- just what is the proper protocol for this? I don’t have a problem at Aldi’s since I bag my own groceries there anyway but am wondering about the “regular” stores.
Those are very pretty!!!! I love them!!!!
Have a Great Day!

those are beautiful! Does she want to be my friend too!?! :0) At our grocery store they offer you $.05 for each bag of your own that you bring and they don't have to provide you with one. I'd encourage you to ask about such a thing! :0)
How lucky are you?? I'm so jealous. We get a .05 discount for each bag we provide too. They use to only do it if you brought back their paper bags but now pretty much anything goes. I have cloth bags (for a while they were selling really nice bags for $4.99 ea) that I've been given and picked up and they know me well enough to ask how many I have and the baggers just use them. Sometimes I have to remind them I have my own but usually I just put them on the belt first and they are quick to get the hint. At walmart, I always have to stop up front and get a sticker for them (as if they sell anything with the grocerie's logo on them or my employer...). It's a pain at the check out cuz the checkers are so use to bagging as they go. I simply sort as I put stuff on the belt then am able to just toss it in a bag. Actually it's more of a pain for them but I think it's fun..... Anything to keep those bags out of the dump.

Hi Amy,
What lovely bags. I have about 15 heavy duty woven plastic bags that I bought at my local grocery store about 7 years ago. They are worn, but still work great and probably will never wear out.
I take them to WalMart and grocery shopping. I put them on the belt in front of the items I am purchasing.
Using these reusable bags can really make a big difference to the environment if lots of people start doing it. In Europe, everyone brings their own bags or baskets shopping. If they can do it, we can do it. It's just a matter of changing your habits. Good for you, Amy! Your kids will be proud of you. My kids are really into doing whatever we can to improve the environment. Like you, we use CF lightbulbs and we compost all kitchen and garden waste. We try to ride our bikes for local errands, but too often we just jump into the car for that one mile trip to the shopping center. We need to do better with biking, plus it saves gas $$$.

I'm jealous - they are so pretty! I want some, too. I'm trying to get in this habit as well - we all need to do our part. :-)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the taxpayer rebate plan will be $1200 per couple, with an additional amount per child (may be $300). It sounds like we will know what's going to happen very soon.
The irony of all this is that our federal government, which is way over its head in debt, is sending money back to the taxpayers.
Thanks for keeping me updated. And yes, I agree with the irony. I also wonder how many people will rush out to spend the money and how many will use it to pay off debts and/or put in savings.
Right now I only make "slightly less" interest by stuffing my money in my mattress than in a bank savings account (and its so much more accessable). LOL *tongue in cheek- but really when a savings account is getting .5% interest is it worth it?
I bought a few reusable bags at Whole Foods last year and use them everywhere! I love them. Yours are very pretty!
I too wonder what people will use their gov't checks on. We'll put ours in savings actually to pay the gov't taxes!
Have a blessed Sabbath.
