Home Sweet Simple Home

What I carry my “stuff in . . . . I think I must be a strange woman- I don’t have a 100 pairs of shoes and of the dozen I do have I only really wear 3 prs of them and when it comes to purses  . . . . . I am a window shopper. I look, I drool and then I walk on.

My sister can’t believe I only have one purse (and that it cost around $15). And I use that purse until it’s beyond help- then I get a new one. But I do have some “others”.

In the very bottom of my bottomest dresser drawer I have a beautiful beaded clutch. This is for those very formal occasions that come once in a blue moon. It is, however, a great purse for borrowing and many of my friends (sister included) have borrowed it from me. So it’s worth keeping.

In my one purse (which I would term “medium” sized) I have a very cool wallet. This wallet can be a purse in of it’s self. The wallet has lots of slots for photos, ID and cards as well as two wallet pockets-- I use one for receipts for my out-and-about purchases (I don’t like my receipt in the bag thank you very much) and the other for my money—which is in order from largest to smallest denomination. [I may be a bit of a control freak! LOL] and of course, it has its own zippered change pocket too. The best part is the chain and key hook attached to it. So the wallet becomes its own little purse and I can hook my keys on too if needed. This is great for when all you need is a wallet to go somewhere- fast and less to carry/weigh you down. I use it a lot when we are on vacation and are souvenir shopping.

 My wallet opened.

 My wallet as a purse.

My only other “purse” would be a small cloth drawstring backpack. I also use this on vacation or when we are out-and-about and I need my hands free, my “stuff” accessible and yet not too accessible for any would-be thief. When I use the small backpack I can pack my wallet/purse, a couple of diapers and a few snacks as well as Kleenex, chapstick and sunscreen.

I dream of being that woman with a beautiful bag to match every outfit (and shoes to match too!) or bags that go with the seasons (My SIL has an awesome red flannel blanket purse- great for winter) but when you find most of your outfits to be a T shirt and jeans- well any olÂ’ thing will do. And I just can’t see spending all that money on something to hold “stuff”.

So What’s in your wallet- er . . . . purse?

Shoes and Purses

7:38 AM, 2006-Mar-28 .. Posted by mommyof2
I have downsized my shoe and purse supply within the last year. I used to be one of those women that matched both with whatever I was wearing at the time. Since becoming a sahm, I noticed that I didn't do that anymore. So out went about 50 pairs of shoes and 5 purses. I am currently using a small black Hush Puppies purse that I just picked up at the outlet for $12. In the past year, I have gone through 2 other bags almost just like this one, but not as well made. On the shoe front, I still have about 20 pair but I wear most of them (depending on the season) regularly. Once out of corporate America, my "needs" changed drastically.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
