Looks great! I need to get back into the habit of calculating the cost of my meals, I haven't done that in SO long.

Amy, I frequently visit your site, and I have a question for you. (Totally unrelated to this post, sorry about that - I just clicked on the first entry up here...) I really value your honesty & love for the Lord, and I know that you aren't perfect, but you try hard to be all that God wants you to be... that's why I feel compelled to ask your advice.

We started homeschooling this year, after two years of schooling away from home (private preschool and public kindergarten). I have always wanted to homeschool my children - way before I had even met my husband, before I had any idea of the children God would bless me with. My health declined a few years ago, which is why we went with school outside of the home... and our experience both years was great, really it was. But last year I just felt the calling to homeschool, and our son asked me if I would homeschool him this year, so we went for it.

The problem I am facing now is that my health is still not great - though it is getting better than it was - but I still wear out very fast and some days I just can't function. I am seeing a new doctor, who is hoping to get to the bottom of what is wrong with me, but it is still babysteps to get to that point.

I've discovered that my son doesn't seem to respect me... he loves me, and he is very caring, but I just can't get it through his head that I need help around the house if we are going to homeschool. I'm not putting all the housework on his shoulders, not by any means - but with him home, he and his sister play while I am cleaning, and it never fails that I will get one room in fairly decent condition, only to walk into another room and find that they've destroyed it while I was in the other room cleaning. Twice in the last week, I've asked him and his sister (who is 3) to clean their rooms, and both times, 3 hours later, the rooms were in pretty much the same condition as when they started, the stuff had just been moved around. We've sorted and sorted and sorted, and given stuff away to Goodwill, so the each have only two or three small cubes of toys, in addition to a tub of stuffed animals that they share and a bucket of Thomas trains & tracks that they also share. But it seems that they just take things out and leave them around, then it takes forever to clean it up.

And yes, I do ask them to clean their rooms, regularly - but that is where it seems that I'm not respected - they drag their feet and take forever, until it is bedtime... we aren't getting any school work done, because I'm constantly trying to keep the house clean (not spotless by any means, just picked up).

I'm on the verge of re-enrolling our son in public school, because I am at my wit's end. I'm even contemplating enrolling the 3 years old in the preschool we had her brother in, twice a week, so I can at least focus on keeping house two days a week without completely exhausting myself and running down my health. Hubby supports me in whatever I do, though I think he would prefer I put the kids in school (at least the 6 year old).

I am so torn between doing what my heart wants to do (homeschooling) and doing the easy thing (public school) so that I am more relaxed and less stressed trying to do so much.

Any advice you can offer would be so appreciated - I really do respect and admire you for being such a strong Christian wife and mother, and I hope you don't mind me asking you for advice - I just know that you will give advice that is honest and respectful, and not bashing like so many other bloggers tend to do.

Thanks Amy!

Nice Job

I like how you included your Breakfasts and Lunches too! How do you come up with your total cost? The sausage and biscuits sounds great - I haven't made that in awhile....maybe I'll put it on next weeks menu!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
