Oh, thank you Lord. The humidity has subsided some. We actually went outside (more than just a quick jog to the car). The clothes actually dried on the line before noon. Even went swimming with some of the family. Very nice.
Our VBS finishes up tonight. It's been a long week. The girls want to go to VBS at another church with friends of ours next week. We will probably let them go a couple of nights but not every night. It sure wears us all out.
I am slowly weeding through the kids clothes. We've got a bit of summer left but I'm setting aside many items that they have outgrown already and making notes for what will be needed this fall. I have my own system that I created after reading how Amy Dacyczyn (Tightwad Gazette)- although I don't have the storage space she does to store years of clothing. I do keep a notebook in my purse that lists the items each child will need for the next season. I also make a copy of the list and share it with my Mom as she is the Goodwill [shopping] Queen. My list also includes notations about what I think will be needed to add from this past season- for example- Sass is now down to 4 pairs of shorts- so if I find a good clearance on some shorts in the next few weeks I will purchase two or three one size bigger for next summer. Each child has a large Rubbermaid container that we store the previous seasons' clothing in- that way their dressers aren't overflowing. The containers stack nicely in the back of the closet- out of the way. I find this has really helped me to see exactly what is needed and saves me money by not buying items we really don't need.
It's what I do too.
Well, without a gracious giving grandmom.
Today all boys got new trousers.
We still have a lot of summer to go, but I saved so much, and maybe they want to wear them to school soon. Early mornings can be cold.
Have a great sunday.

Yesterday we got a letter from YP announcing his resignation as of 8-31. It was also announced in church today. YP's letter just said it was with mixed emotions that he wanted to let us know that he has given his resignation letter. He didn't say what he will be doing next.
The other factor that may have played into this is that YP has a long commute to our church from where he and his wife live. They live in another county where his wife has a job teaching. I also wonder if his wife (of 1 year) got really tired of him having a job where he is working when she is off work. It seems like the YP job is perfect for a homeschooling mom, but probably not great for a newlywed with a spouse with the opposite work schedule.
I had told you about us running into another couple from our church. The wife told me that YP's driving record was discovered during the Safe Sanctuaries background check, but that the real reason YP could not drive the church bus was because the church's insurance policy precludes someone with his record from driving.
I hope you don't let other people make you feel guilty for not volunteering at VBS. I am glad you were able to pick up extra work to replenish your savings this summer. There's a saying that you can have it all, just not all at the same time. I am sure there will be plenty of other times when you will be volunteering.
Thank you for the update on your YP. I can understand how it would put a strain on a marriage if your schedules didn't mesh. God has blessed my husband and I in that regard. I will be in prayer for your church to find a new YP that is a good fit.
There are always seasons for volunteering aren't there? There will be a time for it.
May God bless you this week Lynne.
I prayed for you today!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.
DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
