Piles of little things vs. Big Crisis

Have you ever noticed that it’s all the little things that go wrong piling up that drive you loony rather than one big thing? Perhaps it is just me, but I seem to have a better handle on a crisis when it’s a big enough problem to be so labeled. When it’s a bunch of little things- like a lost tube of antibiotic ointment, a water bill that is twice the normal amount, someone putting their garbage in our yard next to our garbage can, someone unhappy with the way I’m doing youth ministry or the fact that I didn’t volunteer for VBS . . . . well, all those things seem to add up rather quickly and take me to the brink of frustration.
Whereas- a true crisis- the first thing I do is go on my knees in prayer. Hmm. Something to be learned there . . . . The little things often stay "overlooked" until they mount up and the feelings of defeat and being overwhelmed bog you down. Corrie Ten Boom once said that "Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden." Ah, good point.
So- I should be praying about that lost tube of antibotic ointment and how to respond to the people who are "complaining", praying about the water bill (oh, yes indeedy!) and for the man who put his garbage in our yard. I am always saying that prayer should be the first step to solving any problem- seems I've been remiss in taking my own advice lately.
While others might find it trifling and odd- I'm going to be praying about a tube of ointment tonight.

Like you, I seem to hit my knees when the "big" ones come ~ but the small and meaningless things do get to me!! Ughh! I wish it wasn't so -- but it seems that I tend to really take the huge things that seem WAY TOO big for me to handle to the lord -- and try to take on the small things, thinking it's much to simple or small to bother the Lord with......

I have a lot to learn yet,

Gloria

I have run into the same issue in the past. Recently too. This is an area that I have prayed for help. That feeling of being overwhelmed is not enjoyable....Now, I learning to just pick away at those smaller things and let the worries roll off my shoulders.
Have a good Wednesday!

What a big eye opener - I'm so guilty of doing this exact same thing. I yank my hair out daily, or so it seems, over all the trivial stuff, without pausing to pray over it - when that is the very first thing I do when something Big comes along. Thanks for the reminder, or telling-it-like-it-is.... I needed this! :-)

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
