Hip Hip Happy New Year!

12:17 AM, 2006-Jan-2 .. 1 comments .. Link

Just want to send out the best wishes and blessings to everyone for 2006.

I don't make resolutions; found I broke them all too easily. I do, however, set goals for myself (my brain tells me that's much more realistic). For example: I don't resolve to lose weight, instead I have a goal not to gain weight in 2006 (really the goal is to weigh the same, or less if I'm blessed, @ the end of this new year.) I don't resolve to drink the requisite 8 glasses of water a day but I have a goal to drink one more bottle of water than I do cups of coffee a day.

I jot down goals in my journal and revisit them often to remind myself.

For 2006 I want to live within Philippians 4:4

Rejoice in the LORD, always and again I say rejoice!

I want to rejoice in the LORD always, at all times. Paul isn't just telling us to rejoice and find joy in the Lord when everything is going right and going our way. He is telling us to rejoice always and if that's not enough- remember to do it again! I want to rejoice even when my children are driving me insane or when they hurt me (especially then). I want to rejoice even when my DH works late and forgets to call me. To rejoice when loved ones pass on. To rejoice when I am running late or forget the all important diaper bag. To rejoice when my DH misunderstands me and my in-laws dislike me. To rejoice when my children get sick. To rejoice when I get sick. To rejoice when people complain about me and my job @ church.

To rejoice when my son says "wuv you". To rejoice when my 9 yr old DD leaves me a love note next to my toothbrush. -when my 5.75 yr old DD sings a worship song (and cutely flubs some of the words). - when my DH brings home day lilies that were growing @ the side of the side of the road (not illegal). To rejoice when my children all snuggle around me for story time or devotions. To rejoice when my DDs lead us in prayer. To rejoice when my DH steals all the covers @ nite . . . . roll over and snuggle against him, putting my cold feet on him instead of yanking the covers back over.

For 2006 I want God to remind me of the little things, the things that are simplistic but lead to a very blessed life.

And my biggest goal? To rejoice in every circumstance.

Thank you for the idea on the Lavender dryer bag...I can't wait to try that.

What you said about not appreciating what we already have really hit home for me. I'm not sure why, as I really DO appreciate what I have, but sometimes I think I get too caught up in life to sit back and enjoy it. Thank you for the reminder.

I am also a Flylady fan. Just started. Love it so far.

Happy New Year!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
