Home Sweet Simple Home

Fluff and stuff

Today we are washing and packing and such—fluffing the house while getting ready for a bit of a get-away. The kids will have fun-filled days with Nana and Grampy and Mr. Steady and I will be taking 11 young people on a camping trip [kayaking and tubing]. I’m enjoying one last day of sanity before the chaos.
The girls and I washed their linens today and hung them to dry. I recently purchased a new (and cheaper) fabric softener with hints of vanilla and lavender. We are all absolutely loving the heavenly smell. [So much so that we bought 2 more bottles when we were last @ the store].
I like to wash and make up the beds fresh when we’re going to be gone for a bit so that we all come home to sweet smelling fluffy beds.
We’re doing some last minute cleaning too- as I also like to leave my home sparkling clean. Especially the kitchen- I don’t leave dishes in my sink- big no-no. The floor’s been swept and I’m about to scrub it clean and then toddle off to the porch swing for a bit of afternoon reading while the house settles down for quiet time.
We’ve got some yum-i-lious peaches-n-cream corn given to us so we’ll be fixing that for supper this evening along with the pasta salad I made the other day. Then soaky baths for the youngers as they are dirty filthy kiddos. And finally we’ll cap our evening with family movie nite- move the coffee table to the side and fill the floor with pillows- popcorn with extra butter- everyone squeaky clean and in their jammies. Bags all packed and by the door- clothes laid out for church. Just the way I like to spend a Saturday night.
Ta Ta for now little Land of Blog.

**Note: for any bloggy skulking burglars . . . . our home will be occupied while we are gone and we have the most nosey neighbors . . . . Oooh, I just had to add that for the smile it gave me. LOL

Have a wonderful time!! I remember camping trips when mine were growing up - and what fun we had. Campfires, hiking, rainy days.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
