Rejoicing- Heaven Bound

2:22 PM, 2007-Jul-6 .. Posted in God is Good .. 1 comments .. Link

My great aunt died on Sunday. She was 90 years old.
She was also 4'2" but while she was little in stature she was mighty in heart.
Today was her funeral.
Our pastor talked about David when Samuel was to anoint the next king . . . . .and he reminded us that while we may look at stature and physical appearance- God looks at and measures us by our hearts.
Aunt Lottie had a big strong heart.
Her service was a testimony to a life lived in service to God. My oldest daughter asked why we didn't really cry at the service and I shared with her that this is really how a funeral is suppose to be- rejoicing and full of joy. Aunt Lottie's last few years were hard and she greatly missed the love of her life, my uncle (who passed on almost 13 years ago) but she always gave God glory and said her joy was in Him.
Not many funerals can be described as joyful, but this was.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4

Amy,
Your words give great tribute to your aunt. Her life will always be a part of yours. Thank you for saying so well what we all know when we lose a Christian loved one. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm rejoicing for your Aunt Lottie. Can't you just imagine that moment on Sunday when she passed from this world and stepped into heaven face to face with Jesus and her dear husband waiting next to greet her!?!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
