Camera Advice needed

9:10 AM, 2007-Jun-21 .. Posted in Crafty Goodness .. 4 comments .. Link
It seems that I am in the market for a new digital camera. The one we have right now is on the fritz. I don't know what's all wrong with it- it won't stay on and it drains a battery dry (even the mucho expensive digital ones) quicker than quick. Oh, plus the fact that I've dropped it so much that we have tape holding the battery door shut. Yep, I need a new camera.
The camera I have right now is a Kodak Easyshare CX7330 with 3.1 mega pixels and 3x optical. I've been told that I really shouldn't purchase anything less than 5 mega pixels (or was that 5x optical?)  when buying my next camera. I also don't know whether I want to stick with Kodak or not. I'm not very happy with how the easyshare program on the computer keeps acting up.
So- I'm looking for some advice from camera savvy readers. Do you have a digital camera? Do you like it? What would you recommend? I want a good camera that will last more than a couple of years but I also must be very frugal about the cost (under $200). I'd like the picture viewer (I'm sure that's not the technical name) on the back to be at least 2 inches (my viewer is really too small on this camera).
Please help a lady out- won't you?! Thanks!

My daughter has a Kodak Easy Share C633.
The screen on the back is 1 1/2 X 1 1/2.
It's a 6.1 mega pix.
3X zoom.

I have pictures of my garden on my blog, and those pictures were taken with the above camera. This thing takes GREAT photos and its not a big bulky camera.
I paid $100.00 for it at Target the day after Thanksgiving, so I don't know what the 'original' price really is!

We too have a Kodak Easy Share CX7330. I really like it, all the pics on my site are taken with it and the software to upload the pics is really good.

I love it! it is the absoute best, I really like this camera. And not only does it have a large picture viewer you pull it out and can turn it any way. I take pics of me and the boys at an arm reach turn the screen around to do it and no more weird whor knows what you are photographing pictures. It does great with batteries I am SO pleased there after my last cammera which actually had a pacman on the battery relase because it eats through them so quick. This camrea also does sound videos.

High-end Features...Highly Affordable
PowerShot A630 not only boasts show-stopping 8.0 megapixel resolution, but is packed with a full range of high-performance features previously found only on Canon's higher-end cameras. The result is an affordable camera that produces truly superior photography. The high resolution is complemented by a 4x optical zoom that brings the world up close, and you'll see it all clearly on the big, bright 2.5-inch Vari-Angle LCD monitor. The 21 shooting modes make photography easy, fun and creative, and are joined by great functionality like expanded ISO settings that let you shoot in low light without blur.

I have a Nikon CoolPix L4 that is small, and has the window viewer. I love my camera! It works really well. It has 4.0 megapixels, 3x zoom. It's a nice camera... and it's under 200 dollars.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
