~~ I know it seems extraordinary that I am spending less than $50 a week to feed a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 kids 10 and under). I was amazed too when I started keeping records. I’ve broken down some of my recipes by cost- if you are interested click on recipes under my categories on the sidebar at right. Keeping track of cost has really helped to prepare a proper grocery budget and with my grocery price book I have a very good idea of what I will be spending at the grocery store before I even go in. Helps keep me on track and saving my pennies!
Oh- And don’t forget to check out oodles upon oodles of yummy menu ideas every Monday over at The Organizing Junkie’s blog. You just might find your next favorite family recipe!

You have really inspired me with your menu plan! We are on such a tight budget right now since my dh has gone back to school...btw, what is a "Toad in Hole"??

I think there are different versions of this but mine is simply this- you make French toast but fry an egg in the center (cut a hole w/biscuit cutter or lip of small cup). It's like having fried eggs and French toast but so much more fun!
Sometimes we add shredded cheese and bacon crumbles for extra pizzazz.
Very yummy and very cheap!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
