Father- Mr. Fix-it

Today Maiden and I were in the car listening to a local Christian radio station – all week they’ve been sharing listeners stories of their fathers . . . .
This is what we heard today:

My Dad married my mom when I was 5. He could fix anything. He’d get out his tools and glue and duct tape and fix what ever was broken.
One day when I was about 8 or so, I came to him with a treasured toy and some tape and begged him to fix it. He shook his head and told me that this wasn’t something he could fix with tools and tape. I begged him again- reminding him of how he had fixed so many other things.
He said, “Sweetie- I can’t fix everything. I could never fix a broken heart. I can’t fix this toy. I’m sorry.”
My mother had been watching us and quietly came up to my dad and taking his face in both her hands she looked him in the eye and said, “Yes, you can fix a broken heart. You fixed mine the day you married me.”
The years have gone by but that moment is forever ingrained in my mind and heart.

 To this I add say- never under estimate the power of Love.
