WFMW- 2 liter bottles and boots

I seem to be coming up with some pretty quirky Works for Me Wednesday tips lately.
Today is another "quirk".
While going through my wardrobe and putting away winter items, making way for the summer clothes, I noticed that I needed to do something different to support my calf length black boots. I had been stuffing a large amount of plastic grocery bags in them to hold them up but in storage they would just squish.
I let it go for a day or two or four and while cleaning in another area of the house I came across a couple of 2 liter pop bottles that aren't returnable (we have a 10 cent return in Michigan). Suddenly I had a light bulb moment and wondered if they would fit in my boots.
Sure enough, they do! So what works for me today is to put 2 empty 2 liter pop bottles in my calf length boots in order to help them keep their shape.
Now what to do with those plastic grocery bags . . . . I saw in a magazine article yesterday (don't remember which magazine) that you can make pretty plastic flowers (that sounds like an oxymoron!).
Bunch the bag lengthwise into a long strip, fold the strip in half lengthwise and then again. Put a rubber band tightly around the middle and then take a pair of scissors and cut about half an inch or so from each end. Fluff out and voila! you have a flower! I would say it would work best with colored plastic bags. I remember seeings someone use this as a decoration on top of a present instead of a store-bought bow.
Don't forget to check out all the other great "Works for Me" tips over at Rocks in My Dryer.

You can crochet those bags into a purse too :)

Plastic Bags

O Amy--

those Walmart bags/plastic bags can be used to make an indoor/outdoor rug too. Takes a bit of crocheting to do it. I have made several of them and I use them especially in the warmer weather to help keep the house a bit nicer.

The bags can also be used for packing material in packages that you want to mail.

Blessings, DJ

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
