Always Doing

It is wonderful what may be done if we are always doing. –Thomas Jefferson

Ah, always doing. That seems to be the life of a wife and mother. I’m always doing this, that or the other. It is a wonderful treat to see my children growing and learning to be always doing also. To have Maiden join me in the nightly routine of “setting the house to rights” and “getting ready for tomorrow” is truly wonderful. To see Sass and Mr. Conductor set the table (complete with cloth napkins and silverware set in different designs by Sass each time). I love the sense of accomplishment that comes from always doing.
The laundry is flying on the line and the ingredients for supper are sitting on the counter next to the casserole dish it will all go in. School is done, checked and put away. Toys have been picked up before going outside to play . . . .
Only big mess here seems to be the ever increasing pile of paper work on my desk. I hope to tackle that monster later.
To me always doing doesn’t have to be work, work, work. I love to sit on the porch swing and read a book (which I plan on doing during quiet time) or play with the children- or even just sit and watch the children play.
Sometimes I get overwhelmed at the thought of everything that needs doing and I run myself ragged trying to do it all. Those are the days when I forget to ask God what He wants me to accomplish that day. I have found when I put God in charge of my schedule the obvious happens—things run more smoothly. I know that if I ask God to help me accomplish all that HE wants me to do that day then I will and I will also know that whatever didn’t get done wasn’t God’s plan for that day!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
