A bit of this and a bit of that

It’s been a beautiful day here so far. School is done and went quite smoothly. Sassafras has really improved on her reading and has even begun to read out loud to Mr. Conductor.  Mr. Conductor can “read” some of his favorite books to us, almost verbatim- a good pre-reading skill. I love listening to him read Green Eggs and Ham. Maiden continues to devour books and has to be kept from digging into next year’s curriculum. She continues to plow through the Nancy Drew Mysteries (she's a collector now) and is simply thrilled about the upcoming Nancy Drew Movie (her Auntie Em, also a big NDM fan has said she will take her).
I’m waiting for the washing machine to finish so that I can hang clothes on the line. A task I take pleasure in. The kids will probably help when it comes time.
I have most of our curriculum for the fall- another box arrived yesterday. Just waiting on a couple of backordered items.
I filled up the trunk and front seat of the car with boxes and bags for Goodwill yesterday. They are low on donations and have put out a call to the public to please bring in gently used items. There is the possibility of local Goodwill employees being let go because there is not enough work for them.  When I was given my donation receipt it had a coupon on it for 20% off my next purchase at Goodwill. Of course I promptly went inside. I bypassed much of the store- didn’t want to be distracted by things I didn’t need. I had some specific things in mind- jeans for Mr. C, blue jean capris for the girls and cloth napkins. Plus I like to check out their “vintage” dishes. I was able to find a nice pair of capris for Maiden and 4 beautiful cloth napkins (49 cents each). I spent a grand total of $3.78 after the discount. Now that’s not to say there weren’t many other wonderful things in the store- but I didn’t need anything else. It felt good to know I had not spent frivolously- even if it would have only been a few dollars.

Great finds!!! I love me a good trip to the Goodwill!!! :) I wish one was closer! :)
