A glimpse of the weekendOur Homeschool Group program was a resounding success on Friday nite. It was simply wonderful. Mr. Conductor could have behaved himself a bit better but I can sympathize with him for having sat thru all the run-throughs of the program all week long . . . . there just wasn’t that much interesting to him after he’d heard it all over and over and over again in practices and at home.Over half of the family and friends that we invited could not make it- which was disappointing but understandable. Well, mostly understandable. I am not dealing very well with my brother and his wife’s rebuff of anything remotely involved with homeschooling. In fact, I’d have to say I’m pretty furious with my brother right now for how he is treating me and my family. But I’m not going to rant. Every time I feel my blood begin to boil about it all- I pray and give it back to God- I’ve been “giving it back” a lot today. Oh, Lord have patience with me- as I learn to control my anger and disappointment. Enough of that- I don’t wallow (well, not too much anyway). We had 5 girls here overnite Friday nite (Mr. Conductor defected to Nana and PawPaw’s) and they had a marvelous time. We enjoyed having them all here and Mr. Steady even “put them to work” helping him plant part of the garden. We took a hike down the town boardwalk and just simply enjoyed the beautiful day. Well, I didn’t just “simply enjoy” it—got the bug to do a bit of cleaning in the laundry room that turned into a major overhaul cleaning of the laundry room which overlapped into a cleaning of the storage room off the kitchen (which hooks into the laundry). The storage room isn’t totally done yet- have a couple of boxes to haul out to the garage and approx. 10 bags/boxes of “stuff” to take to Goodwill. Whew! Saturday evening we ended up staying and having supper with my parents when we went to get Mr. Conductor. The kids and Mr. Steady (as well as my Dad) went for a hike and I enjoyed a nice visit with my sister and her boyfriend as well as with my Mom. It was a wonderful ending to a wonderful day. As for Sunday— well, it was beautiful day weather wise. The teens in youth group were a bit rambunctious and not really open to listening to my bible study. They were much more interested in what was coming after- our duct tape game. The last couple of youth meetings have been this way and while we can blame it [them being antsy and not interested/listening] on the increasingly nice weather—I do get a bit frustrated when I find my lessons quickly going south with the crowd. Crowd control has been an issue too. Sigh. I just keep praying—praying that all I am saying is not falling on deaf ears—praying that their hearts would be open. I am reminded that I am planting seeds and it takes awhile to see the green shoots and then the sprouts and then the fruit of mine and God’s efforts. I love those teens but, man, they can drive me to the edge of my sanity! I think I’m getting a bit of spring fever too as I’m feeling close to burn-out again- not because of my rowdy teens though. I need to carve out some renewal time and I’m just not sure where that extra time is going to come from. I’m easily agitated right now with church “issues” and also with this “thing” with my brother and his family. And all that on top of Mr. Steady’s health issue, which has been difficult for us to deal with in and of it’s self. I am thankful for my family and for our homeschooling. Both are a constant joy to me. While chaos reigns over some areas of my life I am thankful for God giving me this safe haven at home.
