Home Sweet Simple Home

Another day . . . .

Just another day in the life here . . . . .
We had discolored water here on Thursday and Friday (due to village DPW flushing hydrants and such) so today I am doing 5 loads of laundry plus sheets since Mr. Conductor sprung a leak during the night.
I hung a comforter and pillow shams out on the line. My neighbor rang my doorbell while holding up one of the shams. It seems it’s quite a bit windier than I had anticipated. Maiden and I quickly brought in the rest of the laundry and I am now using the dryer in order to get caught up (as well as hanging clothes on indoor lines).
School was a bit rush-rush this morning as we absolutely positively had to finish up our Young Authors books today. We’ve been finalizing and spell checking and such for a couple of hours. The books are due tomorrow (and I’m in charge!)- nothing like waiting ‘til the last minute. That’s two years in row Maiden has done this to me! Next year, I think I’ll boycott! Of course I do love the final results and the keepsake treasures that they are!
We have a very jam-packed week here. Tomorrow is our homeschool group- we have the last of the Young Author Presentations in the morning then our dress rehearsal for our musical in the afternoon. Tomorrow evening I have a solo and ensemble to attend as youth pastor. Wednesday is a full school day and a baby shower in the evening at our church. My mother and I are in charge of the shower. I don’t have the baby’s gift done yet either- somehow have to squeeze that in! Thursday is another day of school and, thank the Lord, no plans to be out and about in the evening- I need to finish touching up the kiddos’ school portfolios since we will be displaying them on Friday.
Friday is another normal school day and we also need to bake brownies (enough for 3 doz. squares) because Friday evening is our Homeschool Musical and Talent Show. We will be having a homeschool family dinner beforehand (when I will be handing out the certificates for Young Authors) then after the musical is a cookie and punch reception for all attendees. The reception is where we will be showing off the kids’ portfolios and projects from this past school year.
Oh, and did I mention--  afterwards we’re taking 3 of the homeschool girls home with us for an overnighter (Mr. Conductor will be going home with Nana and Pawpaw)!
Though it’s a lot- I am looking forward to each activity this week. Especially Friday nite. The musical is our big homeschool event for the year. The one event we invite everyone to- our way of showing off all that we’ve accomplished (and its very helpful to raise awareness with those opposed to homeschooling in our families).
So- in order to keep on track and not slip into chaos- I made a master list of everything that needs to get done this week. I then took that list and broke the tasks down into days so that we know what needs to be accomplished each day. But most importantly I am in prayer. Each day I pray that I will accomplish all that God wants me to. I pray that God will open my eyes to see the unnecessary and to "let it slide" without worrying.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
