Home Sweet Simple Home

Our Easter

11:41 AM, 2007-Apr-9 .. Posted in God is Good .. 0 comments .. Link

Easter was QUITE the day for us. First of all- we ended up being late to Sunday School- not a good start but not the worst. The service was incredibly lovely and moving.
Dinner at my parents was wonderful and so was visiting with the family.
Then it happened. My sil and I both woke from our naps at the same time and I was following her into the kitchen (for a snack, of course) when we both noticed the room was full of smoke.
To make a long story short- my parent's chimney was on fire. At first it didn't seem like that big of a deal- then it was. The chimney started cracking and smoke was just pouring out into the pantry. Hmm. My fire-fighter bro-in-law was called over and many lengths of hose were connected so that Dad could pour water down the chimney from the roof. He also used 3 fire extingishers (all that my parents had on hand).
We didn't evacuate and actually had quite a few laughs over it all. But the underlying current was thankgiving. We were all thankful that it happened when many were there to help and during a time that my bro-in-law was available. We were thankful for God's blessing and protection thru it all. The chimney will have to be replaced but my Dad was able to repair the cracks enough to limp them thru to the end of heating season.
Chimneys can be easily replaced.
We are all thankful for God's provision and protection.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
