Christmas Countdown
Hey- did you notice there are now under 50 days until Christmas? How is your shopping going? We are doing pretty good here on ideas- just haven't made many purchases.We are planning family gift baskets for my brother and family and my parents. For the In-laws the family all chips in with $$$ to cover the cost of repairs or something or other for them as their house is well, badly in need . . . . . we draw names with just the children with Mr. Steady's family- so that will be 3 small gifts (and we are still waiting for the name drawing . . . . ). We also like to give certificate of time- a hot commodity these days.
Time Certificates: A Sister Breakfast (for my Sis), Game Nite (with DB and family), Helping address Christmas Cards (for Great Gram), Dinner with the family (for just about anyone), bonfire nite, babysitting (for DB), family movie nite- complete with popcorn (for just about anyone in the family), scrapbooking time together, baking day together, Dine In Certificate (we cook and bring them dinner).
We've gotten really good at making these certificates- so good the girls even do their own for dear Mom and Dad. Mr. Steady and I make certificates to put in the kiddos stockings (some great ones- one extra hour of staying up past bed time, free pass on a food you don't like, option of eating dessert first, special 1-on-1 time with a parent, get out of jail free (a chore), child picks a movie nite and much more).
I'm sure you can think of many different ones that apply best to your family. The certificates have become a tradition here and one Mr. Steady and I dearly love.

My Husband (DH)-Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.
DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
