Welcome to Everyday Things. This weekly feature is designed to encourage all of us to embrace contentment and to appreciate the everyday things which we often take for granted. Join Everyday Mommy and the Everyday Crew every Friday for Everyday Things.
My everyday thing today is: A clock.
I am an organized person and I like my schedule. You know those people who can't leave their house without their cell phone and even turn around and go back home to get it? That's how I am about my clocks and my watch. I don't care if it's a do nothing day- I like to know what time it is thankyouverymuch. I have more clocks  than mirrors in my home!
We use to have one of those bird clocks that gave a different bird call for every hour- I took the battery out after awhile and then after that- sold it at a yard sale.
My dear friend Scott has a gorgeous German cuckoo clock- authentic- he bought it while stationed in Germany. You can turn off and on the "cuckoos" and the little man who comes out and chops wood and the little woman who pulls water from a well. He turns it all for me when we come and visit- he knows I adore it.
We have a clock we were given for a wedding present, the clock my hubby received for 20 yrs @ his job, a lighthouse clock, clock radio, plain black clock and that's all on the main level of the house! (doesn't include the microwave clock or clock/timer magnet on my fridge).
To me, clocks help to give order and stability to my life. I have a friend who has a pendulum clock that is the first thing she hangs in each new home and the last thing she packs away when they move. Isn't that beautiful?!
By the by- don't you love the fall Everyday Mommy graphic- she's just so dern talented!

I too love clocks - don't have any really special ones, but I must have one in every room.
Many years ago I knew a couple who collected clocks - he repaired them and she displayed them. They even had a pair that had quite a story. One he found in a shop in San Francisco which had a little girl sitting on a rock next to the clock. A few years later he recieved a phone call from his son who was back east on business - and in a shop there he had actually found the mate - a little boy sitting on the rock. Amazing!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
