Posted in Our life
As I read somewhere else on the homesteadblogger site: I don't have enough blogs. I have started this one to further compartmentalize my life...or something to that effect. We live in the city but, by LA standards, "have land." In fact, I sometimes think it's our small parcel that keeps me here and somewhat sane. I could never live in one of those boxes they build nowadays. I often think I could but I know better. I have always lived on a larger piece of land than the ordinary city-dwelling Californian. The homes I lived in with my parents were always on huge (again by CA standards) chunks of property. In Montana, where I lived with my grandparents, we had a small farm of only 14 acres but that is the place I love best. Someday we hope to move a little further south than we live right now. We like Escondido as there is a huge portion of land out there where development is prohibited. Our plan at this point is to have a cactus and succulent farm where we can sell to the public and also offer educational programs for local schools and groups. Our sons want us to put in a train as well. Maybe a garden railroad. ![]() For now we have been prodded into the homestead lifestyle by God and are getting our feet wet all the way up to our hips. The rest will be forthcoming. I'll write more of our current plans in a future post. |
