I was up at the crack of dawn picking cucumbers this morning. I am taking veggie food trays to the funeral so I needed all the cucumbers I could find. Wish I had carrots... well, anyway, I do, but you never saw such short and funny looking carrots in all your life. Maybe next year I will be a successful carrot farmer. We picked all the peas, pulled up the plants and immediately replanted peas for fall. It's very late in the year to be picking spring peas, but they were so slow in growing. I decided I am not that excited about growing snow peas. I would rather plant sugar snaps - they are tastier and they yield more harvest. I picked the first bunch of zucchini from the "pumpkin patch in the wagon". Things are growing in the wagon, but I think they need a dose of seaweed or something. The leaves look smaller than my other plants.
We had this cute visitor in the daisies...The dog discovered him and the marmot carried on with such whistling and crying that he basically told everyone where he was and Christina was able to shoot this picture.
The girls are singing The Midnight Cry for the funeral. We worked on it forever last night... still some quirks to work out. We decided to all get to bed and get some rest and meet at 9:30 at the church to finish practicing. Vanessa is playing the piano - no music... totally by ear with some very interesting chording and cadences, etc... Natalie on the violin - making up the descant as she goes. Brianna singing the solo parts and Christina and Ellie on alto, Dakota and Isabelle filling out the sound on the choruses. Wish I had known Shiana and Julia are around... too, late. Next time.
