It's so nice to have the girls home again! I had to go and pick them up an hour and a half from here. They were full of stories and excitement over camp and all they learned. Young Disciple Camp is a good place!
Vanessa took Canoeing, Fire for Missions, Writing Ministry, Principles of Music and Deep Bible Study. Brianna took all the same classes except she took orchestra instead of writing ministry. They enjoyed missionaries tell of their adventures every evening around the campfire. They renewed friendships and made new ones. Vanessa was bubbling over with the things she learned in Principles of Music. Craig Cleveland of Fountainview taught the class. Not only did he teach them the difference between good and bad music and the results of listening to the wrong kind of music, but he expounded on music composition and writing lyrics and what makes a great song that stands the test of time. Anyone who knows Vanessa would know this is right up her alley!!! According to Brianna the vegan food was fabulous! Last year she thought she would starve to death...:-) But they made some changes and there was more food and no restrictions so she was happy. She did hurt herself - okay, what's new? That's my Bri. It will take them a week to share everything about camp. We'll be learning their new scripture songs and hearing the Faith building stories they learned from the missionaries. Last night at family worship they shared a wonderful story about prayer. The girls also learned how blest they are. They met young people whose homes have been split through divorse... they had no idea. At home here in our little church they have not been very exposed to that. They are glad to be back home and Christina is VERY glad to have her sisters back.
The first thing they noticed when they arrived home was that the carpets had been shampooed and the furniture rearranged. Vanessa was totally surprised and happy with her room. Then they headed for the computer to see pictures of baby Shiloh. . .

There are no shortage of apricots this year! So big and juicy and sweet. We have never been able to figure out what kind of cots they are. A lot of people suggest that they are Perfections, but they are sweeter and softer than perfections. Perfections can well and keep their shape. They also dry in the dehydrator nicely. But these have a very high sugar content and turn black in the dehydrator and fall apart in the canning jar. So, I make frozen apricot jam and sauce and all kinds of things with these cots. They are the best for fresh eating. I gave away 3 small boxes yesterday, have 4 boxes sitting on the kitchen floor and we have only begun to pick them.
One other thing the girls noticed in the house right away was a wonderful smell. It took them awhile to find it, but they finally discovered a little paper bag all stapled shut sitting on the kitchen counter that was exuding good smells throughout the whole house.
I love it!

Sounds like your daughters were really inspired by YD camp. That's a true blessing!

One of the older gentlemen in our church drinks sassafras tea, but I don't know anything about it, other than that it grows around here. Should I be picking and drying it?
