Suzanne over at The Fruit of Her Hands Blog is getting into the Christmas spirit of giving.  She is giving away a gift from Tasha Tudor's Old Fashioned Gifts, and also a handmade Victorian gift.  Go on over and give her a visit, and read how you can also enter in this contest and be blessed, not only with a possible gift, but with her refreshing reminder that it is more blessed to give than to recieve!  Thankyou Suzanne...God bless.

Back to Bloggin!

{ 11:11, Monday, July 17, 2006 } { Posted in Odds and Ends } { 0 comments } { Link }

Ugh...after a week of just getting my home in order, I am back to my blogging!  Yeah!!!  I always feel like I am missing something when I am unable to blog!  Today is a good day, I need to plan out my menu for the week, bake our bread and start planning out our school year.  Can you believe school begins in 1 month?  Where has the time gone?  We have been very into bugs the last few weeks ( really I smile through gritted teeth, I am NOT a bug lady) and just reciently my DD6 caught a green June beetle...have you seen one of these things?  It's huge, and very ugly!  She was letting it crawl on her...eeewwwww, GROSS!!  After they catch their bug, we research it and pin it to their foam board.  I did have to go online for them and show pictures of the dangerous ones, like the black widow, because a couple weeks ago DD6 caught a Wasp in an Easter egg.  She really has no fear.  Good or bad I'm not sure, but I know that there should be a healthy respect for God's nature!
So, I revamped my schedule for my days, and I included a 15 minute slot for blogging.  That should solve my problem of not doing it!  Well, I seem to be rambling so I will go for now, I hope you are all enjoying your summer...whats left of it anyway!

Blessings, Rossie

Finally!!!!

{ 06:51, Wednesday, July 12, 2006 } { Posted in Odds and Ends } { 2 comments } { Link }

I finally have a few minutes to update my blog!!!  It has been very busy on our little city homestead!  We were planning on taking a week vacation to Montana next week, but the Lord has closed the door on that, so we are a little sad, however, the Lord knows what He is doing!

We were going to be doing a camping theme this summer, but things have changed.  A week ago, when we came home from an outing, there was a Praying Mantis on our doorstep, and so like always my children wanted to research it.  So we went online and saw many pictures and read all about this insect...well, that sparked an intrest I just couldn't pass up.  So we bought a foam board and little pins, and we are collecting and researching all kinds of insects!  How fun!!!!  And boy, although I was excited about the whole camping thing, it has been over 100 degrees for the last two weeks, and daily I was questioning our theme.  I am glad that it took a turn!

Well, my few minutes is up, so I will continue this in a while.  Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

Blessings, Rossie

My everyday tomato...

{ 09:21, Friday, July 7, 2006 } { Posted in Odds and Ends } { 2 comments } { Link }

My everyday tomato for friday is fresh bedding.  I just love the feeling when my feather mattress has been fluffed and clean sheets have been put on the bed.  I could sit there, cuddled between the feathers, and smelling fresh sun breezed bedding while reading a good book for hours!!!

Friends or angels?????

{ 09:13, Wednesday, July 5, 2006 } { Posted in Odds and Ends } { 1 comments } { Link }

Reciently I have been blessed with a wonderful friend.  I don't know really even how it came about.  Acturally I do kindof, I met her on The Family Homestead.  All the women there are wonderful, and Crystal's site is full of great wisdom and advice!  But just when I am feeling alone and a little down, God sends me a special friend.  She is all the way in Texas, but she has been a balm to my weary soul.  God is sooo good.  He cares so much about our well being, so much that He provides what we need at any givin moment!  I am so thankful for this friend and prayer partner, and am amazed at how much He cares for me!

I also want to thank all the wonderful people here, you are all God sends to me, and I am blessed to be a part of this circle!

Blessings, Rossie

After Darkness, Dawn!

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

At the turn of the century there was a city worker whose youth had been spent in evil ways.  But one night during a revival meeting he was spiritually born anew.  Soon after, he ran into one of his old drinking pals.  Knowing his friend needed Jesus, he attempted to witness to him about his newly found peace.  His friend rebuffed him rudely and made fun of him for "turning pious."

"I'll tell you what," said the new Christian, "you know that I am the city lamplighter.  When I go 'round turning out the lights, I look back, and all the road over which I've been walking is blackness.  That's what my past is like."  He went on, "I look on in front, and there's a long row of twinkling lights to guide me, and that's what the future is like since I found Jesus."

"Yes," says the friend, "but by-and-by you get to the last lamp and turn it out, and where are you then?"

"Then," said the Christian, "why, when the last lamp goes out it's dawn, and there ain't no need for lamps when the morning comes."

Testimony Time...

{ 03:30, Monday, June 26, 2006 } { Posted in Odds and Ends } { 6 comments } { Link }

Wow...I just posted an entry with a little excerpt from Max Lucado.  About your face, and how it is a reflection of the Lord.  I ran errands today while my three oldest were in VBS, and Walmart was on the ToDo List.  When I came out, I noticed an older woman standing beside her car, and decided to put my face in check!  So I put on a smilesaid hello, and asked how she was doing.  She turned around with a scowl on her face, but as soon as she saw my smileher face softened...She had locked her keys in her car, and the car was running.  I invited her into my airconditioned car while I called my DH (a mechanic), to see what we could do about the situation...in the mean time her sweet husband came to wait while the locksmith came.  I gave her my DH's business card and told her to call if she had any trouble, because he said he could come to unlock her car, no charge.  I had to go down the street to pick up the kids, and on the way back home, I stopped to get some ice cold water bottles(it is supposed to be 110 degrees today) so I could take them to the woman (Linda).  Before I left she said, "Thankyou you are such a blessing"  I had to tell her though that she was my blessing!!!

Amazing, what a smile can do!!  What have I been missing out on???  All because I have fallen into the "I'm so Busy" crowd.  Genuine hospitality and friendliness is soon becoming lost.  I remember the days in Montana when driving to the big town, we would wave at everyone we passed, not even knowing them!  Well I am here to say, It is not being lost to me, I am turning over a new leaf...so if I ever get the opportunity to meet any of you, don't be alarmed with my goofy grin or my bear hug!!!!

Blessings to you all!!
