A Day in the Life of Me

Friday, Oct. 17:

Tonight was date night!  After DH got home from work we made plans to go out to eat.  One day earlier this week he came home & said that he was going to take "his girl" out to Cracker Barrel but I already had supper done by then so we didn't go.  Before we went to Cracker Barrel for our date we went to my brother's work & decorated his car for his birthday.  Hee Hee!!  Earlier today I went to the party shop with my youngest DD and we bought 2 big helium balloons, a Happy Birthday banner, some Happy Birthday window clings & a birthday card.  Then we went over to Walmart to pick up some t.v. dinners for the girls for supper since I wasn't cooking.  We got those & we also picked up 2 packages of streamers.  One green & one yellow to decorate the car with.

So, as I said, we went to decorate his car.  DH tied the balloons to the driver's side rear-view mirror while I gently placed the window clings to the car.  We were afraid that he might have an alarm on it so we tried to be as gentle as possible.  Then we put the Happy Birthday banner across the windshield and tacked it down under the wipers.  Then we took the streamers and wrapped his car.  I was laughing the whole time.  Then we heard this buzzer go off in the factory & thought that might mean BREAK TIME so we took off!  Before we got to my brother's work I realized that I had forgotten the camera so we didn't get any pictures.

We had a nice supper together.  We went up to pay & as we were waiting in line (it was packed!) I noticed that they had some Pop Rocks so DH told me to grab a few for the girls.  We paid for our meal & candy.  I went to put the candy in my purse & discovered that one of my girls had put my camera in there!  So I asked DH if we could please go back out to my brother's work & get a quick picture.  By the time we got over there it was almost dark outside & my brother had already discovered what we did.  He already had the balloons off of the car & in the back seat so I did get a few pictures but not  very good ones.

Eric's b-day car #2 by you.

Eric's b-day car by you.

He called me later around 8 while he was on his supper break at work.  He said that this isn't the first time someone has done this to his car.  LOL!!  He enjoyed it!

Yesterday Katie started a different curriculum for school.  It was just getting too hard to find stuff at our local library to teach the Weaver.  How much does one person know about atoms & molecules?  I don't know very much!  I ordered the 6th grade curriculum from Christian Light Education.  I also added art & music for her to do.  I asked DH if he would work with her on art once a week.  He said sure which made me very happy.  It's nice to get him involved with the schoolwork.  I feel more at ease with this curriculum in knowing that she is getting everything that she needs for her schooling.

Saturday, Oct. 18:

Today was pretty much a lazy day.  DH left really early to go hunting.  I fixed a big breakfast while he was gone because when he returns he is ready to eat.  I fixed fried potatoes, ham & cheese omlets, & maple smokey links.  I made him up a western omlet by adding onions, green peppers, & tomatoes when he returned home.  He called me when he got close to home & said that he was bringing home some McDonald's.  So we had that for lunch & I baked a turkey for supper along with some mashed potatoes & green beans.

Sunday, Oct. 19:

Today was a long day.  We had church, then a fellowship after, and then our second service right after fellowship.  By that time, we are so ready to go home and take a nap!  We got home & DH decided he was going out hunting again so I snuggled down in my recliner to watch Little House on the Prairie and fall asleep.  I wasn't asleep long before the phone rang.  UGH!  It was my SIL.  I don't know what she called for other than to interrupt my nap!  ~Smile~

Until next time....

A Day in the Life of Me

Wednesday, Oct. 15:

Katie is feeling a lot better today.  She did school and attended guitar & choir classes today.  No one else seems to have any symptoms so maybe it will just pass us by.  (fingers crossed here!)

I canned up some more vegetable soup today.  I have one more batch to make up & can so tomorrow I should be done.

We are all sitting on the edges of our seats waiting for my brother & his wife to announce that she is going to the hospital to have their baby.  She is due today.  They are expecting a girl after having 3 boys so they are thrilled to be buying pink for a change.

Thursday, Oct. 16:

Mom sent out an email saying that my brother & his wife were on their way to the hospital!  Maybe this will be the day!  She has been having contractions for a week or so now and last week she was dilated to 2 or 3.

I'm done with vegetable soup!  I ended up with 30 quarts.  That should be enough for awhile.

Mom sent out another email saying that the hospital sent my brother & his wife home so no baby yet.

Tomorrow is my other brother's birthday.  He lives in another city but he works here in my town so I'm thinking about buying a few balloons & going out to his work to tie them to his car while he is working.  He doesn't get off of work until 10 or 10:30 pm so that should be a suprise for him.  He will be 27.  ~Sigh~  I remember turning 27. ~Sigh~

Until next time.....

A Day in the Life of Me

Tuesday, Oct. 14:

Well, looks like Katie has come down with the stomach flu.  After supper, she was laying on our bed watching t.v. when Dad came in to tell her it was time for bed.  Just then, she made a mad dash for the bathroom & got sick.  She got up this morning & said that she felt better than she did yesterday but her stomach still felt sick so I tried to get her to only eat light & easily digestable foods today.  She ate some Ritz crackers, some rice with buttter for lunch, a banana for a snack and by supper time she was hungry & wanted an Arby's sandwich so that's what we ate for supper.  She ate the whole sandwich plus the curly fries so I think that she is feeling better.  Her & her sister were bickering before they went to bed so I think she is back to normal.  LOL!  Seems the bickering between sisters lessens when one is sick but as soon as they start up again you know everyone is feeling better.  My stomach has been a bit grumbly today.  UGH!  When DH came home he said the same thing but he also felt light headed most of the day.

I canned up some beef vegetable soup today.  I only got 9 1/2 quarts with this batch so I will make some more on Wednesday, (today! I'm a little late w/ this post!)  I'm putting our ground up deer meat in it this year.

Until next time.....

A Day in the Life of Me

Sunday, Oct. 12:

We went to church as usual.  We had a guest preacher today because today starts our week long revival meetings.  The preacher talked about alot of different stories in the bible but one really stood out from among the rest.  The story of Noah & the ark.  The preacher said that Noah built the ark not only for his family & the animals but for all mankind.  He said that no one would take heed of Moses warning so no one but Noah & his family were saved.  I have never heard this take on this story before.  Very interesting.

Monday, Oct. 13:

Today was a busy day as usual.  Exercising, vacuuming, dishes, homeschool, 5 loads of laundry & grocery shopping.  Everything was smooth sailing....

until....

I got home from the grocery store!  I was unloading the groceries from the back of the van.  I went to pick up the sack that contained 4 half gallons of milk in it and pulled a muscle in my lower back.  OUCH!  IT REALLY HURTS!  So now I'm kind of laid up.  It takes me forever to walk around the house, thank the Lord I don't have stairs!  I went to lay down in my bed & watch some t.v hoping that some rest would make it feel better.  NOT THE CASE!  I practically screamed when I had to raise myself off of the bed in order to get up to make something for supper.  We are just having some spaghetti & a salad tonight.  I was going to fix lasagna but I couldn't muster up enough pain tolerance to accomplish that.

My youngest has been feeling sick to her stomach today.  We just got over with a round of colds last week and now another?  UGH!  She woke up this morning saying that she felt like she was going to throw up.  She has eaten a few things & has been sipping on some Gatorade, water, & Sprite.  She has kept those down so hopefully she will be back to herself tomorrow.

Until next time....

A Day in the Life of Me.

Friday, Oct. 10:

Our busy cleaning day is usually on Friday.  Friday's consist of dusting, vacuuming, & mopping.  Before I started vacuuming with my piece of junk Bissell sweeper I took it apart and gave it a really good cleaning because it wasn't sucking very well.  After cleaning it I started vacuuming.  It still wouldn't suck like it should.  I mean, I had to go over a little piece of lint 8 times before it would pick it up.  THAT WAS IT!  I WAS DONE!  I told my girls that I would be right back.  I was going to Walmart to buy a new sweeper.  I was just going to get a Hoover but I seen that they had a Dyson.  After thinking about it for awhile in the aisle I decided to buy the Dyson.  It was on clearance and didn't cost a whole lot more than one of the other sweepers.  I paid $250 for it.  The other sweepers were around $180 so I figured I got a good deal.  So yes, I am the PROUD owner of a DYSON!!  It is a homemakers best friend!!!  I love this machine!  I actually LIKE sweeping the carpets now!

My youngest, Katie, had her best friend, Courtney, spend the night.  They had a scavenger hunt at our library for the middle schoolers from 6-8 pm so I dropped them off there.  When I came home I started making supper.  I tried a new recipe for pizza from my Bisquick cookbook.

Stuffed-Crust Pepperoni Pizza

prep time: 20 mins.                                 start to finish: 35 minutes

  • 3 c. Bisquick Mix (I used my homemade version)
  • 2/3 c. very hot water
  • 2 T. olive or vegetable oil
  • 3/4 c. diced pepperoni
  • 4 sticks Colby-Monterey Jack cheese (from 10-oz. pkg), cut lengthwise in half
  • 1 can (8oz) pizza sauce (I used my homemade sauce)
  • 2 c. shredded Pizza or Mozzerela cheese (8oz)
  • 1 c. sliced mushrooms
  • 1 small green bell pepper, chopped (1/2 c.)
  • 1 can (2.25 oz) sliced ripe olives, drained
  1. Move oven rack to lowest position.  Heat oven to 450*.  Spray 12" pizza pan with cooking spray.  Stir Bisquick mix, hot water and oil with fork until soft dough forms; beat vigorously 20 strokes.  Let stand for 8 minutes.
  2. Pat or press dough in bottom and 1 inch over side of pizza pan.  Lightly press 1/4 c. of the pepperoni along edge of dough.  Place string cheese over pepperoni along edge of dough, overlapping if necessary.  Fold 1-inch edge of dough over and around cheese and pepperoni; press to seal.  Bake 7 minutes.
  3. Spread pizza sauce over crust.  Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheese, remaining 1/2 cup pepperoni, mushrooms, bell pepper and olives.  Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese.  Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until crust if golden brown and cheese is melted.  8 servings.

It was a hit!  Yummy!

Saturday, Oct. 11:

I spent most of the day doing some sewing.  I am putting a dress together.  A cape dress but it's a little different than the last one I made.  After putting my sewing away I did half the dishes the I went to lay down for a bit because my back is giving me some pain.  It always hurts when I've been sewing for a long time.  I ended up falling asleep for a half hour!  When I got up I finished up the dishes, swept the floor (with my new Dyson! ~Smile~), washed my hair, and then made supper.  We are having haystacks tonight.  DH has been gone most of today.  This morning he went out hunting & then he had a golfing tournament for our church to play in so he won't be home until around 9 pm so it's just us girls this evening.

Until next time...
