sweet tea
|
I am trying to lose weight. I'm trying real hard. While I should be drinking water or crystal light, I resort to sweet tea. It's not real sweet but sweeter than some like it. I make a gallon and add 1 c. of sugar. I feel really bad. Its like I cant go one single day without my tea. How can I stop this? I could go all day and eat sensibly but still drink this tea. And I dont have just one glass......... (my goodness, I'm really spilling it here, huh) I have like 3-4 glasses maybe more :( Would you please keep me in your prayers that I will do better on my diet and lay off the sweet tea. Oh, don't mention splenda. It tastes awful in my tea :( Unless you would like to tell me how you make your tea using splenda. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.

Please don't beat yourself up over sweet tea. Dieting is hard enough. I like sweet tea myself. I agree with you on the splenda. I hate the stuff. I refuse to use any artificial sweeteners. May I make a suggestion?? Start reducing the amount of sugar you use until you aren't using much at all. I maybe use a quarter cup cane juice crystals or honey to a gallon of tea. Try using herbal teas such as cherry and strawberry flavors. When I was diagnose with diabetes, I really had to make adjustments and by cutting out the amount of sugar bit by bit and using natural unrefined sweeteners, I've done a much better job with the weight loss and diabetes controle. Good luck. If you need encouragement just give me a shout.

Ok, you sound exactly like me!!!! I love my tea and yes I need it sweetned. I started off with 1 cup per gallon, and then 1/2 cup per gallon. I now use about 1/4 cup per gallon. I started slowly tweeking the amount of sugar in my tea as I made it and that is the way I have kept myself on my beloved tea, but started doing it more healthy. I also always buy decaffinated. I don't need it and it doesn't affect the taste one bit.
I hope this helps!!
God's Blessings,

Hi! I was just random blogging on homestead, and reading your blog was like looking at myself in the mirror! Perhaps we are twins separated at birth? :>) I go through about the same - 3-4 glasses a day. Not only that, I drink coffee in the morning too! :>0 I too am trying to cut back on the sugar, not only to help lose weight, but also because it is getting too expensive with the amount of sugar we go through. We are trying to live VERY frugally, and this is just one more area where I will need to try and cut back in. :>(
I pray that God will give you the strength and will-power that you need to succeed in your hope of reducing the amount of sugar in your diet.
Blessings!
Laura
