Homeschoolfreebieoftheday.comEvery Monday, I receive a list of five free homeschool resources. One available each day of the week. I find something I can use almost every week. We especially enjoy the history lessons. I've also downloaded great organizing helpers. This week there's a resource that has bath and body recipes. Lotions, creams, etc. I'm posting this because it's a great resource and they would like more people aware of it. You don't need to buy a thing, but they do have great deals on stuff from time to time. Actually, I first found out about it through someone's blog here at hmesteadblogger. So check it out. 09:35 - Monday, September 8 - comments {0} - post commentThe Simple Woman's Daybook 09.08.08 For Today... Outside my Window...Sun is just beginning to rise through the trees. Ds is watching God Rocks, Dd is working on Bible and I am checking out my blog. Typical morning in our home. I love a routine. Ds had a off day on Saturday. Nothing exciting happening today. We will quick clean today and do some laundry. Hope everyone has a blessed day. I 08:21 - Monday, September 8, 2008 - comments {0}Standing on the Promises... Standing on the promises that cannot fail, ~R. Kelso Carter and John Sweney Good Morning my dear, dear friends. I hope you had a terrific weekend. We most certainly did! My beloved is back home with us where he belongs and we are SO grateful. The job situation is still uncertain. He went in to work this morning and is now on his way back home, told there is no work for him. He left an application with his supervisor to give to the super of another place and so we are praying that God will just open doors, and provide. Thanks again for your prayers. Today is so beautiful, the morning so clear and lovely. I look forward to the tasks of the day. If you could see my laundry room you might ask, "Why so cheerful??" It is going to be a long day of work, but I am thankful for it. I have more crafts to make also. 19 days! ACK! The picture at the top is of Eli and Carlie at the soccer game on Saturday. When they went to huddle, sister wanted to hold brothers hand. It was so cute... as you can tell, brother was trying to finagle he way out of her grasp. :) Have a tremendous day friends, enjoy your home, your family and whatever it is you have to do... Ephesians 6:7-8 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. With much love... 07:54 - Monday, September 8, 2008 - comments {1} - post commentOld Friends
Where did the weekend disappear to? We had an absolutely, wonderful time fellowshipping with friends. God graciously brought old friends back to us for a short while. So, for an evening we got to spend precious moments reminiscing and catching one another up on the last 4 years. Even better, dear husband got to smoke his all time favorite ribs. He's even found a new smoking chip that made the most mouth watering ribs yet (even I enjoyed them when I don't normally enjoy ribs! YUM :0) I think Tom consumed the most, so Juggler passed on her nickname to him to own, "Meatatarian." On Sunday after church we attended a double birthday party for neighbors of ours. The girls were enthralled with the water slide. Simple fun with the numerous amounts of girls in our neighborhood also provided hours of pleasure. Good company is a wonderful blessing from the Lord. The adults mingled among one another sharing stories, laughter, and smiles. . . . . The sun was intense, with the heat sweltering around us. We came home around 6 p.m. and collapsed in front of our fans and air conditioner. Southern heat will wear a person out . . . . but God will always strengthen us. May God bless your day and strengthen you. . . . God is my strength and power, and He maketh my way perfect. 2 Samuel 22:33 07:27 - Monday, September 8, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentSwimming with the wolfWarning do not swim with the wolf he thinks people are swim toys. God Bless, mj 12:57 - 2008-Sep-8 - comments {1} - post commentA new BeginningToday was the first day of our new beginning. Instead of waiting until next payday to make the decision, Joe asked me to buy the oil lamps & oil that we needed today. After returning home and getting all the lamps filled and wick's in the previous lamps trimmed, Joe went around the house unplugging all lights and removing light bulbs from the ceiling fixtures. As of tonight, we are using oil lamps only for lighting. This change in our lifestyle has been going easier than one would imagine. We have been realizing that using electric lights is a habit, not a necessity. Yesterday while visiting some dear friends, they gave me their old washboard to use until I am able to get one of my own. What a blessing! This will make my laundry much easier to do than the way I had done it before - all scrubbing with my knuckles! Now, I can use the washboard to get the soiled clothing clean. What a blessing! We now only have the essential things plugged into outlets - refrigerator, stove, etc. I am looking forward to seeing the difference it will make in our electric bill. Since June, our electric bill had tripled! This should knock the bill down really well. We expect it to go up a little bit in the winter when the dryer will have to be used, but since the dryer vent has an attachment that allows the heat from the dryer to heat the room, we see the dryer as a heat source also in the winter. I am still on the look out for a working wringer washer or even a hand crank wringer that I can use with wash tubs. Anything that will make it easier to wring out the clothing. Having arthritis in my hands, I have trouble wringing out the water from the clothing. I am finding that I love it whenever I am able to do the laundry by hand though. It is very labor intensive, but to me that is also what makes it relaxing. I am so grateful that the Lord is showing us ways to become less reliant on the utilities. It is such a peace to know that with each step we make in this area, we are becoming less reliant on public utilities. I am looking forward to the day when we are able to get a wind power system built to supply what we need so that we are not dependent on the power companies. 11:49 - Sunday, September 7, 2008 - comments {2} - post commentA sweet Sunday... I have enjoyed my LORD's Day! I hope you have too! This Sunday has been wonderful--finally! The worship was beautiful and so filled with the sweet spirit of our LORD. I was totally ready for communion today after the formal singing part of worship was over. Our pastor is starting a new series on the book of Ecclesiates. He was laying the groundwork this morning, and if this was the groundwork--I must say--I can't wait for the meat of the book! I have been so blah about my church that I almost didn't go this morning, but I got up and off I went. I am really glad I did! Sometimes, the LORD accomplishes His will through routine. I am so used to getting up on Sundays and going to church and that was exactly what I did today. I didn't even think until later that I talked about not going to my husband just last night. Funny, isn't it. We went out to lunch with Marianne (CHG) and her family after church. What a sweet time we had. The children were even well behaved! I guess today was just wrapped up as a gift for little ol' me! When we came home-stuffed-I myself was ready for nap. But, Zoe, Marianne's youngest came for a playdate with Seth. They played and played. Then before I knew it Kate, Zoe's sister, and their friend Ally came over. The fun really started then!! They played, and I cat napped on the couch with the children coming in and out....Donnie, also kept an eye on them. Seth had a great time playing and going on a bicycle ride with his friends and Zoe's dad. He also had a great day of rest and fun. Now, I did get my schooling week planned; this week's menu planned; a grocery list made; Seth's birthday party planned (CHG's, I will be calling you tomorrow!); and my chore list for the week planned. Hopefully, all will go well. Everything is written in pencil though, just in case God has other plans for me and my family! I want to thank everyone who commented on my last blog posting. I am so glad that I do have some kindred spirits out in the blogging world. I must say that it is going to be an interesting election. I am just convicted that a woman's place is in the home-a helpmeet to her husband-a mother to her children-a keeper of the home. I know that God had Deborah as a judge of Israel, and He used Esther for such a time as this--but on the whole of scripture--I truly cannot see how I can vote just party lines. My--my--I am in a quandry. (But, I do believe God will put into office whom He wishes to put into office. I will vote my convictions, and I believe that God will be glorified.) Like I said--it is going to be interesting for next few months and four years to come. So, this has been a blessed LORD's Day. Thank you Father in Heaven
05:57 - Sunday, September 7, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentNot muchIt has been a while since I have posted. Almost a month. Things have just been really busy and I haven`t been on here much.We are back to school. I think we are finally back into the swing of things. The kids are moving pretty quick in their workbooks. But then again, everything it just review. We did Wolfpen Woods this past week and it was great. You step back into time, what Kentucke might have been like when Daniel Boone and other frontiermans first came here. They have different station set up for the kids to go around and learn things from that time. This was our second year going and we will be going back next year to. My mom and stepdad are moved down here now. They are living in our camper. They are hoping to have the house done before Thanksgiving. My papaw came down to my house yesterday and went over to see what they are doing to his house. He is homesick and ready to come home. I am ready for him to come home too. I miss seeing him everyday. My mom went up to sit with him while my aunt and uncle go to church. I made him chocolate gravy and biscuits and mom was going to take it up to him. I am going to walk up there in a min. See if he liked it. It has been a hard last week for us all. Sept. 4 was two years since my mamaw past away. We all miss her so much. My papaw really misses her. We did manage to go camping for a week. It was nice to get away. We have decided to sell some of our animals. Hannah has really bad allergeries to them. Dr. said the best thing was to keep her away from them. Her nose and thoat was almost closed shut. The dr. said she had some of the worst allergries, she had seen. She also has asthma. I do have some one buying all my goats except the boer. I gave 10 of the meat birds to Sam`s aunt. I just haven`t had the time to butcher them. I did keep the 8 that was suppose to go to the fair. I am going to butcher them this week. I sold the 5 golden comet pullets I had to a guy dh works with. We also want to do a lot of camping. We sold our 5th wheel and bought a pull-behind. The animals really tie you down. I think we are going to keep the bannies and the quinea`s. My mom can feed them while were are camping. Well I am going to go. I thought I had more to post about but just can`t remember it. Oh well. 06:18 - Sunday, September 7, 2008 - comments {1}How many men dies it take to hang a picture?I had my daughter Kristi take this picture when we were at my sisters Tracy's house for a BBQ. She and her hubby Andy just bought their 1 st home a few weeks ago. She needed this picture hung. Tracy, mom and I laughed so hard while the men were hanging the picture. We kept saying how it would have been done faster if we girls did it. And the boys / men kept making jokes about the "stud finder" find them! Oh'boy men. It took them over 15 minutes to hand the picture with ONE nail. We love you boys, but we girls could have had it done in 3-5 minutes! Here are the boy / men:

Description 1 Timothy 1:15-16 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
