Just give me Jesus

Studying God's Word / Frustrated with man's ways!!

I am so thankful that I am in Bible Study Fellowship. I have met 3-4 really great gals, who dig deep into His Word.........

My notes this week, are frustrating.

We are talking about Matthew 26:1-46

Ok, for starters, in the notes....they are teaching that the Lord's Supper has replaced the Passover. That is a huge load of garbage. The Lord's Supper, was a meal Jesus had with His disciples before He was crucified. Nothing more.

Then on to the questions.
One question is worded like this:

What does Judas's kiss show about Jesus' continuous, affectionate relationship with His own disciples?(Matt 26:47-56)

Um, it was custom in that day to greet one another with this kiss. I am told, it is STILL the same custom. Nothing more. Nothing less.
It 'appears' they are trying to pander to 'women's feelings'. Barf.
The Bible is CLEAR about how much we are to trust our "feelings" and even our own "hearts"..............that would be none at all!!!
It's irritating that they don't dive into the Greek or Hebrew to get the original word and its original meaning. They just work on 'feelings'. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Another irritating question:

What do you think the Lord thought and felt when He looked at Peter, as recorded by Luke? (Luke 22:54-71)

OK once again, the original Greek word EMBLEPO means this: The verb implies a close and penetrating look. Our English word is just "look".
So there you have it. If you look up the Greek you will know this is the "kind" of look Jesus gave to Peter.
HOW DARE I try to 'think or feel' what the Lord 'thought and felt".

Scripture says this:

1 Corinthians 2:8-9

8  None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

However, as it is written:
   "No eye has seen,
      no ear has heard,
   no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"[a]

Footnotes:

  1. 1 Corinthians 2:9 Isaiah 64:4
Ok, that's pretty clear to me that I have NO IDEA.......and for me to act like I do......well, I think is blasphemous.

On the good side..it does cause me to dig deeper into His Word. It does cause me to look up the Greek and the Hebrew. It does cause me to talk to the Lord more, and ask Him more questions. It does give me hope that 2-3 other ladies in the group have similar concerns and frustrations as I......

I guess this is why God tells us to Hide His Word in our hearts?

It's just sad to see people just accepting what is fed to them, nodding their heads like they are on an episode of oprah. God's Word is so clear.....................

So the words the Lord spoke during the last supper don't mean anything since it was "just a meal"?
****I didn't say "His words don't mean anything". YOU said that, under the cloak of anonymous. :-)

If you read, Jesus was STILL teaching His disciples. He knew His time with them in the flesh was about to come to an end. He was teaching them........to the very last moment. My issue is this: My *Bible Study* and many other theologians are saying that this "Lord's Supper" REPLACED The Passover. IF that were true, then Jesus was a liar. "Jesus CLEARLY STATED in Matthew 5:17-19 that He did not come to ABOLISH (IE replace) the Law or the Prophets, but to fulfill them". SO when one says "the Lord's Supper REPLACES the Passover, they are in error. The Passover is a Commanded Feast to be kept from generation to generation. (Exodus 12, Leviticus 23)
Jesus kept it. His disciples kept it. And for years beyond His Death and Reserection, His followers.... HIS BELIEVERS, kept it.
See Acts 12, See 1 Corinthians 5, See Hebrews 11.
Do some research as to when these books were written. Do some research into the Greek and Hebrew language. You will see that we have lost SO MUCH in our english translation. When you know the original languages, you can see, the Holy Spirit inspired intent. Thanks for your comment, I hope this clears up any of your confusion!*****Laura

I have seen you say before that the Lord's supper was just a meal. If that were true I don't think Paul would have written about it in 1Corinthians 11. Also, Jesus says for us to do this in remembrance of Him. I don't think it was just a meal. It is a time of remembering His broken body for us and to examine ourselves. I really try not to question you, as I don't want to offend you but I really think if it were "just a meal" it wouldn't be so heavily written about in the Word of God.
Blessings,
Trixi

****Not offended at all dear!! :-) I will try to clear up what I mean in another blog!!******Laura

Description
1 Timothy 1:15-16 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
