Just give me Jesus

Ladies! Thank you for your comments

I totally appreciate your comments.

So tell me this:

Someone is on their way to starting a relationship with Jesus, but they hesitate because of an addiction (cigarettes, food, beer). They know their addiction is bad, and want to quit (sorta) but have not come to the end of themselves to do it.

What Scripture can I use to encourage them to lay their habit at the feet of Jesus, and what Scriptures can I use to show that He cares?

The fruit of the Spirit "self-control" is great........

Thanks again

I hope you don't mind my putting my voice in on this : )

I love knowing that Jesus died on that cross for us WHILE we were yet sinners. If I invite Him into my heart and ask Him to save my soul and forgive my sins He says in His Word that He will. If we had to wait until we, on our own merit, cleaned ourselves up and got rid of all our sins first before going to Him and being saved then no one would ever be able to experience salvation.
I heard a sermon last week and it was mentioned that the one single thing that keeps most people from receiving God's free gift of salvation is those pet sins that they are holding on to. It takes us repenting and being sorry for our sins and asking forgiveness for them but Jesus has to do the cleaning up. Once the Holy Spirit lives in a saved person's heart he will be convicted of sin in the different areas of his life and won't be happy continually living in sin. He will continue to sin of course because of his carnal nature but no more will he be able to sin without the Holy Spirit letting him know that he needs to get things right and then for the first time he will have the power to conquer sin through Jesus who he now belongs to! Before salvation that power was not there.
Jesus wants us to come to Him just as we are. He'll do the cleaning up. I pray things go well.

*********** That is awesome. Beautiful. Thank you. I will seek out Scriptures to support this........as I know they are there!! Thank you again, and please, weigh in anytime!!!*********** Laura

I heard a pastor speak many moons ago about people who want to change their lives, and get cleaned up for God before becoming a Christ Follower. He said, people, do you wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher??? NO!!! And that is the way God is, He wants you smeared an encrusted with the sins of life. Come as you are, and walk into the arms of Jesus!!!

I am not good with quoting off a scripture for each and every situation, and sometimes scriptures can turn off non-Christians. But telling them that God took you, sin and all, and He will do the same thing for them is a priceless thing to hear and take to heart.

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo
