Stand in Awe of God

1 Guard your steps when you go to the house of God.

I put out 8 plants. Last fall, a little girl at work handed me seeds and asked me to grow them for her!! So we shall see how this turns out!!

I have 5-6 kinds of lettuce, and I will try my hand at it, again.......

Raspberries

I planted 6 canes. Three were dead, so I had them ship 3 more. I am hoping to see some life today. I planted them so that they get all the eastern sun, and some relief in the evening. That way the fruit doesn't fry on the cane!!

Fruit Trees

Apple    3 Trees (Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious, GrandGala)
Pear    2 Trees (Bartlett, Beurre Bosc)

All trees are dwarfs, so I should see fruit next year. I am seriously thinking of throwing a couple of peach trees out there too........

FLOWER BEDS

We are starting our flower beds on the east side of the house. Eventually, I would like to wrap that bed from the south east corner of the house all the way around to the north west corner of the house. That is approximately 100 feet of flower beds!!!
We started on the east side and transplanted some ornamental grass. I planted some sunflowers, forgetmenots, shasta daisys, oriental lilies, poppies. I will also put out 4-5 other kinds of flowers (holly hocks, diathus, etc) that I am growing in the house.

Food........my little yummies!!

This is my garden. I am always amazed at harvest time how much food comes from such little plants!! This shot if from the balcony down to the kitchen table.

These are the redonkulious white pumpkins!! I finally dropped them in the dirt yesterday!!! They all flowered in the house. TONS of flowers...so I thought I better get them out to the bees!!!

These are my white pumpkins and cucumbers in the mild jugs.

These flats up against the window are my tomatoes, and all the rest of my veggies!!!

I just can't wait to get out in the dirt!!!!!

Wet and delicious!

It is supposed to rain here for 2-3 days, and I am pretty excited about it!
My dh borrowed the neighbors John Deere. This was taken Sunday, May 4th.

This is what the garden looked like before he blasted it with the big mega tiller............

26 x 26 of some weeds. This is the 'dead' tiller. Praise God that our neighbor is not only generous, but trusting!!

And this is the after photo.........36 x 36 of tilled up lovin'!!!! I added my lime, my gypsum, and my sand one day after this photo, and my dh took the above tractor and tilled over it one more time.
It is wonderfully pulverized!!

We will put up the new fence, plant, and load with grass (hopefully) this weekend. If not, we will do it all week next week!!!I can hardly contain myself!!!

How do you know when it's 'His Will"?

How do you know when you are in His Will?

Prayer. Yes.
Confirmation in Scripture. Yes.
But when you 'act', putting your faith into action........

That is where I am.
Part of 'Living for Him, Him Living Through Me" requires time and talents. And I am willing. I just don't want to jump ahead in the flesh.

I want to be lead by the Spirit.

Energy Saving Tips. Most are a big "duh" but......you never know!!!

Water Heater

Repair leaky faucets promptly. A faucet that leaks a single drop of hot water each second can waste up to 200 gallons of hot water per month, as well as the energy used to heat it.
Wrap your water heater and pipes with insulation. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safety.
Consider setting your water heater temperature at 120 degrees. Take short showers instead of baths. You can use 15 to 25 gallons of hot water for a bath. Showers use 3 to 5 gallons per minute.
Don't let the hot water run continuously when you wash dishes or shave.
Consider installing low flow showerheads. They could reduce your hot water energy usage by up to one-third.

Washer/Dryer

Wash your clothes in cold water using cold water detergents whenever possible. Laundry detergents -- not the water temperature -- whiten your clothes.
Clean the lint filter after every dryer load. Clothes will dry faster and you will save energy.
Wash full laundry loads, rather than washing multiple small loads. You'll save water, detergent and energy.
Don't add wet items to a near-dry load.
Don't over dry clothes. Removing clothes from the dryer before they begin to wrinkle can eliminate ironing and save energy.
Make sure the dryer is properly vented. Inspect the outside vent opening to be sure it is clear of lint and the damper will close when the dryer is off.
Have a professional inspect the dryer vent pipe. Lint can accumulate in these pipes and reduce airflow.

Dishwasher

Operate your dishwasher with a full load and select an energy-saving cycle whenever possible. Use the “air dry” or “overnight dry” setting.
In the summer, use the dishwasher in the cooler parts of the day, such as the early morning and late evening hours. Don’t pre-rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.
Don’t use “rinse hold” on your machine for just a few soiled dishes. It uses 3 to 7 gallons of water each time.

Oven/Range

Cook with the right size pot on the right size burner. Energy is lost up the sides of a small pot on a large burner and adds unnecessary heat to the kitchen.
Open the oven door as little as possible. Your oven loses 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit each time you open the door, making it work harder to maintain its temperature.
Cover pans to reduce the cooking time and amount of heat needed.
If you cook with electricity, turn the stovetop burners and oven off several minutes before the allotted cooking time.
Use smaller appliances such as crock pots, toaster ovens and electric skillets whenever possible to save energy.
Try to do most of your cooking in the microwave or on top of the range instead of in the oven.
You can lower your oven temperature by 25 degrees Fahrenheit when baking with glass or ceramic dishes.
Cook with aluminum or copper bottom pans for even heat conduction. Pans with straight sides and flat bottoms reduce cooking time and heat loss.
Preheat ovens only when necessary. Unless you’re baking breads or pastries, you may not need to preheat the oven at all.
Keep range-top burner and reflectors clean; they will reflect the heat better and save energy.

Refrigerator/Freezer

Don’t keep your refrigerator or freezer too cold. Recommended temperatures are 37 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit for the fresh food compartment and 0 degrees for the freezer section.
Place your refrigerator and freezer away from heat sources.
Keep refrigerator motor and coils clean and unobstructed.
Defrost freezers when the build up of ice is more than a quarter of an inch.
A full freezer will perform better than a nearly empty freezer.
Cover liquids and wrap foods stored in the refrigerator. Uncovered foods release moisture and make the compressor work harder.
Make sure the refrigerator and freezer doors close tightly.
Avoid putting hot foods directly into the refrigerator or freezer. Let them cool to room temperature first.

Computer & Other Home Office Equipment

In your computer’s Power Options, set up your PC to go into standby mode after 15 minutes of non use and set it to hibernate or sleep after 45 minutes of non use. These energy saving modes cut your PC's electric usage down to just a few watts.
Screen savers, while effective in preserving the monitor, use the same amount of energy as when you are using the computer.
Turn off your monitor when it is not in use. The monitor consumes over half of the energy used by a computer.
Flat panel monitors use less energy than standard monitors.
Printing can be the most energy-intensive step, so print only pages you need. Edit documents on-screen and use print preview to reduce the number of drafts you actually print.
Use electronic mail instead of fax machines or copiers whenever possible.
Laptops use 10 percent or less of the electricity consumed by typical desktop computers.
Copiers use more energy than any other type of office equipment. If you need only a couple of copies, use your printer or fax machine instead.
Use double-sided copying whenever possible.
Try to avoid using cover sheets when faxing. Stick-on fax labels can be used on the front page with transmission details. Check with your manufacturer to make sure the labels are compatible with your fax machine.
It takes approximately seven times more energy to produce a piece of paper than to print on it. You can help reduce the energy consumed in paper manufacturing by using recycled paper, double-sided copying, or reusing paper printed on one side.

What do you think about vitamins?

A long time ago, a friend recommended Nutri-Calm by Natures Sunshine. I must say, they were wonderful. They gave me added energy (the B's) without making me feel like I was on crack.......and they leveled off my temperment. Bonus!

I have a friend who knows someone who sells "Shakelee" products and they swear by their calcium!

Here's the deal.
I am not getting any younger. I am slowly changing things in my life to make my 'lifestyle' a bit more healthy.

I am looking for ideas on a good multivitamin, and calcium. I understand that you need to also take vitamin A and magnesium to get the calcium into your system. Without A and mag. , you just eliminate the calcium..........

If you have any suggestions I sure would love to hear them!!

Who has been through the "Financial Peace University"?

I am sick and tired of living hand to mouth because of poor choices. I have 'heard' this Dave Ramsey is good stuff...........but, a lot of people think oprah is the berries too!

There is a church within 5 miles of me that will begin this program on the 18th of May. I am seriously considering doing this.

If you have been thru this program, or know someone who has, I would love your input.....good or bad!!

Once Saved, Always Saved?

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

If I can't earn it, if I 'lost it' then I couldn't do anything to get it back.....so that would mean God is a liar.

Romans 10:9-13
9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame."12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him,
13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Matthew 9:12-13

John 3:14-18

I do not 'deserve' Salvation. I can't earn it, buy it, barder for it, swap, inherit it with the farm, nothing.

It's a Gift.

Free Gift WHEN:

Admit, I am a sinner, and without Him, destine for Hell. Repent of my sins.

Confess, I am a sinner, and that Jesus is Lord...

Believe, In my heart, my mind, my soul and with all my strength, that Jesus is Lord!!

I, am Saved. Not just for the moment, but saved. Done. No do overs, no more 'try agains'. I am Saved. A child of God, indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Sealed for Him. Bought, sins forgiven, loved, ingrafted, A daughter of the King. This is a gift, that I cannot lose. Why can't I lose it? The Seal, The Deposit, The Guarantee. Also known as The Holy Spirit.

Then in Obedience to the Father, I am baptized by water.

Don't be confused. From Genesis to Revelation, it's all about Jesus. Don't be mislead. He is clear, and He is serious. You can't earn a thing with Him........not one tiny thing.

The 'sort of' after shots.........just the beginning!!!

My sweet 16 yo boy tilled this up with a very small hand tiller.......It took him about 2 1/2 hours (the dirt was SO dry and clay.....) After he tilled this all up for me.........he transplanted the Ornamental grass from the side yard to the garden!

Along the dirt/grassline I will stack two-high, decorative flagstones, and then I will kill the grass 8-10 inches in front of those stones so that the grass doesn't invade the garden, and the mower can easily get around the flagstones!! I did this at my other house, and it looked so nice!!

Again, this is the south-east corner........

My daughter and I are "oooing and awwwing" over flower catalogs.This is the beginning of my beds. This garden on the east side of the house will wrap around the entire front of the house. This is a 2-3 year project.

I am so thankful for what God has given me.

This is the east side of the house. I put bamboo poles in the ground at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 to determine just how much sun this area gets and when and where it gets shady. I have an idea in my head what I want this to look like.....

I took the push mower and 'mowed my flower bed' to see what it will look like. Ok. I am pretty happy with this size.

Children!! Teens!! Oh Joy!!

This is the lean-to that my 16 yo boy and 14 yo girl made! They also have a hole dug in the ground where they put a grate over top of a fire.....and cook. Yes, I let my kids play with fire!!!

OOOOOOOO These puppies are so darn cute!!! They will have their first birthday on May 13th!!!

Surrounded by art and music? Well...................
My 'canvas' is the earth, the dirt, the flower bulbs and the seedlings. Those are my colors and textures. Music? Ok, I love the sound of the birds singing...I love the sound of the wind blowing. I love to hear the farmers tilling......That is the 'music' I adore.
((I drive with the radio off...I hate noise!! HAHAHA)

"Driven" to express myself.....well. That's pretty telling. Anyone who blogs knows they love to be heard!! HA HA Why else do people blog?? So yeah, this is probably right to the point of sinning. I need to reel myself in sometimes!!!

Only right before I fall asleep......

Prefer honesty in my relationships. Doesn't everyone, really? Maybe that is why it is so hard for me to keep and maintain relationships? With this 'expectation' and relationships being with fallen humans....it's like oil and water. Honesty is always the best policy. But don't expect it.

Believe strongly in my personal morals?
Naw, I do believe strongly in the Word of God and His Truths. I take on His values. So this statement is true too!!

Savings idea

Using coupons.
Ok ok, you say, "duh".

At the end of your grocery trip, look at the receipt. It will say "X $'s in coupon savings".
Let's say that number this week is 11.65.

Take 11.65 out of your wallet or out of your account (it has to be cash) and put it in an envelope marked "vacation" or "christmas". Every week, take the amount your grocery receipt says you saved in coupons and add it to that envelope.

IF you save an average of 45.00 a month in coupons (that's average) in one year's time you will have put back $540.00.
You will find that you can save a TON on coupons. Buy one get one.
Places that double your coupons........

For me......saving money is a great idea, but saving for what? You can do all kinds of things to cut costs for the sake of living off less OR you can take the savings, and put it elsewhere to use at a later time!!

The receptionist had a proverbs taped to her computer screen.......and then on the wall in H U G E bold letters was this saying:

LISTEN TO NOTHING THEY SAY.....
UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT THEY DO.

It's not Scripture. I don't even know who the dude is that made up that quote. But I have been chewing on that for about 18 hours.....
Sister Lori at Be Ye Separate has a blog about "fruits and faults". Good blog!

A lady in my Bible study group said "Let them (outsiders) know that you care........and THEN they will care about what you know"

Actions, Living, Producing Fruit........
Not talking, typing, writing, whining.....actions, not words.
