Everyday I find a little more info that says maybe I am not crazy
Most of the planet still looks at me crazy when I am forced to talk about our eating choices, even some of my closest friends think I am a little fanatic when it comes to what I buy and willingly feed my children.
Foods filled with chemicals are a big no no, food with no nutrition is another big no no.
Recently I was able to bring my sweet baby (ok ok Toddler) to visit with some old coworkers, the first they did was ask if he could have a saltine cracker, Booger is 14 months old and has never had a saltine I cant imagine why he would need to eat white flour and salt, but I let them give it to him. I figured one or two wont hurt him.
Now later in the week I was subbing at the same place when one of these ladies told me I should save some potatoes and gravy for Booger. I must of looked horrified LOL I really didnt mean to but the idea of feeding anyone in my family instant potatoes and packaged gravy was icky. So I explained that Booger eats mostly Organic, Now she is looking at me like I have sprouted a 2nd head.
Then Of course I read the great or not so great article from Cosmo on organics, I had to side with those who commented that whom ever wrote the article must work for Monsanto. The comments are far better than the article by the way.

Back to the point, yet another study showing that food dyes and additives are Bad for our kids
and I wanted to pass it along. Maybe I should print out my findings and keep them in a binder to hand out to the people I care about that think I am crazy.

You are crazzy if you feed your family only junk food.
We feed alot of organic with a small amout of junk food. I can the organic vegies we grow , we grow our own beef, pork, chickens(soon the kids wont let us eat the ones we have now), eggs. I buy organic fruit and bread when it is too hot to bake. It is hard to feed your family a good diet with all the junk they put in our food. I am adding you to my friends list. God bless . mj

Isn't it wonderful to find things on the web that affirm your choices? :)
We eat mainly organic, and I make all of our breads/tortillas/muffins etc out of organic flour. NO, a loaf of my bread does not last for a month but I find it reassuring that it actually does mold, LOL. It isn't natural for stuff to be so pumped full of preservatives that you can keep it in your pantry forever.
We buy our beef and chicken in bulk, grass fed and as hormone free as we can get it! A friend of ours was studying for his master's in nutrition - he said a single pound of beef could have a THOUSAND cows in it, b/c they throw in all the odds and ends and grind 'em up. So when we buy from a local farmer, I think they give one or two shots to their cows but at least it is only one cow. :[ One of these days we plan to raise our own.
We get eggs from my mama and milk from an Amish dairy. :)
All in all, we try to make our organic/semi-organic choices really count.
Blessings!
Ashley
Edit: I forgot to say my son is 18mo and has *never* had processed milk, unless it was in the form of ice cream at his grandparent's. I don't let too many people know that - the 'ol 2-headed look is waaaay too common! ;)

Most people look at me like I have two heads as well when I explain that we eat organically and try to stick as close to 100% as possible. They just don't get it and don't seem to want to get it. Good for you for sticking to your guns!
