Camping weekendThis is what we did this weekend:
That is Hubby and I camping with our Cub Scout pack. That's our 3-room tent in the background (big enough for all five members of our family). Hmmm, I just realized Hubby looks quite a bit shorter than me but in fact he is taller. Just thought I'd point that out before he did : ) We have taken the scouts camping before, but not at this particular camp. And I don't think we will again. There were hundreds and hundreds of people there, the tents had to be pitched very closed together, you had to carry all your gear a 1/2 from your car to your campsite, the bathrooms were 1/4 mile from the campsite and the water was a long walk, also. The whole thing was very unorganized. There was a ban on all fires because of the drought - how fun is camping without a campfire? And did I mention one of our scouts and his dad were capsized when canoing? It was not a pretty sight. But I guess most of the kids had fun, even if the parents didn't. On the positive side the parents were great about pitching in and helping each other, and the woods were beautiful with the changing colors of fall. We'll chalk it up to a good team building experience. Here's some more photos:
