I cannot explain why I took an unexpected break from blogging, except to say that my life has been extra busy the past couple of weeks. And as you have heard me say before, when my life gets so busy that I have to cut back and set priorities, blogging is usually the first thing to go. And so, to bring you up to date. Our new year of Cub Scouts started. I am the Cubmaster, which basically means that I have to plan, participate in, and do EVERYTHING. I love Cub Scouts, but I find that my schedule no longer allows for the roughly 10 volunteer hours a week it takes to be Cubmaster to a very active pack of about 30 boys. Therefore, I have decided that regardless of what my future holds, this will be my last year as Cubmaster. When our pack’s year ends in June, that will be it for me. My oldest son moved up to Boy Scouts two years ago, and is no longer even in the pack of younger boys. And it will be another couple of years before my youngest son is old enough for it. On another front, the family that is “best friends” with my family moved away to a neighboring state this weekend. We helped them move, which means we were in South Carolina Saturday and Sunday. Luckily they moved right over the border (we are in N.C.), and are only about two hours away from us. But a four-hour round trip, two days in role does take it’s toll… My younger brother and his family will be renting my friend’s old house here from them, so I am probably going to have to act as the go between. We hope that our friends will have everything out of their old house by tonight. Then I will have to spend the week cleaning and painting the house so my brother can move in. He will help paint, of course, but it will be a big job. On Friday, we will be leaving for camp with the Cub Scouts. We will probably try to return Saturday night. Meanwhile, I am still trying to fit school into our schedules. We are only doing the basic subjects right now. I am going to make a concerted effort to try to check in every day, but no promises….
