An uncertain future

I've been avoiding blogging because I was not feeling very positive and didn't want to bring everyone down with negative feelings. But I have decided that the more prayers we can get, the better.

Mark had his interview last week but apparently didn't get the job because they didn't call him back. In the meantime, ideas from friends and advertisements for employment seem to getting fewer and further apart.

The hardest thing to deal with - in my eyes - is the uncertainty. For someone who likes to plan everything out, our uncertain future has us frazzled and stressed. We were in the process of trying to buy a home with some land in a small town so that we could start a small hobby farm when this crisis of Mark's lost job hit us. Now that's no longer an option, but what is?

Should we just keep looking for a job and stay where we are for a few more years - even though we are feeling suffocated in this city? His last job was going to transfer him close to the town we wanted to move to, but a brand new job wouldn't be willing or able to transfer him anytime soon.

Soon we get a job here, and then see if we are still eligible for a home loan, and move to a different small town nearby (not many small towns around here and who knows if we could still get a loan with a brand new job).

And now, one more option. Our friends, who are going to be living in the small town where we had originally planned to move, want us to move down there and live with them until Mark can find a job down there. The offer is a very generous one, as we have five people in our family. But if he does find a job down there, would we then be able to get a home loan again, or would we have to rent? Or would he even be able to find a decent paying job, which can be hard to come by in small towns?

We just simply don't know what to do... we pray for a sign from God every day. Please pray with us.

Almost 5 years ago my husband was unemployed for 13 months. He had been working for a farm supply co-op and lost his job due to a merger. He worked on a friend's ranch for most of the unemployment time. Then a friend who owns a bank in a nearby town asked him if he would like to be an ag loan officer. He has been there for over 4 years now and is doing well. He is working in an area he never dreamed about. Doesn't that sound just like the Lord? We have remained in our same house the whole time.
During the time of unemployment, at first we had set ideas about what we wanted. As time passed though, we placed those ideas at God's feet (where they belonged in the first place!)
I know that God will take you where He desires for you to be. A favorite author once said that God will take us to unexpected places in a manner in which we are unaccustomed.
During the 13 months we ended up using some of my husband's 401K money, but we realized that God is the God of our retirement and He will provide what we need during that time. We continued to tithe and God continued to supply our needs. Things were tight, but our needs were met. Praise God!

You are loved and being prayed for . Philippians 4:19 God shall supply ALL your need according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.
Stay strong in Him and know that He does indeed have a perfect place for you. Jeremiah 29:11
I hope I have encouraged you. I am with you. Smiles, Linda

Lost Job, God will provide

I have been in your place twice. My husband went to work on day and they closed the doors, we had 2 kids and I was pregnant. Unfortunately we lost the baby due to the stress, God gave us a temp Job 5 months later. Unemployment got us through and my husband did odd jobs. Can you believe a year later we were in the same spot again. This time they let him have a month notice first. When we thought we were at the end God gave us everything we needed and more. I will pray for you.

Blessings,

Ma
