Luau!

12:45 PM, Thursday, July 5, 2007 .. Posted in Family .. 1 comments .. Link

The luau went well, and now my girl is 15 years old! She has come such a long way! So here's the photos, starting with the cake. I used a Wilton butter cake recipe and Wilton buttercream icing recipe. The flowers are actually silk flowers with an icing drop in the middle of each (I wasn't brave enough to try icing flowers). In case you can't see them well, the little tiny candles are actually in the shape of flip-flops. They are made by Wilton, I purchased them at our local Hobby Lobby.

Here's Baby, my black lab. She was once all black, but now at almost 12-years-old, she's obtained a lot of white hair (fur). All the girls at the luau wore leis and girl dogs were no exception! Only the girl cat got off without having to wear one.

Here's Alli posing with Baby. Alli (who is biologically my niece but we raise her), is actually half Native American (her mother was Apache). But with that long dark hair and olive skin she looked more Hawaiin than the rest of us!

And here is Alli unable to maintain that pose when our other dog, Leo, jumps up to lick her face!
