• Wednesday, November 28, 2007 - I guess I will be
I guess I will be going back to work. At least two days a week. I emailed one of the ladies I use to clean for to ask her if I could use her for a reference. I told her I wanted to go back to cleaning at least two houses a week. She told me that I could come back and clean for them. She said that they could really use my help. They both work and she is pregnant with their third child. They are a very active family.
We have a lot of doctor bills right now. DH is just now getting back to work some overtime but it just isn`t enough. I would like to start ironing and doing mending for people to help make extra money. I am not sure how to get started. The ironing and mending I can do at home. I am not sure want even to charge. I also thought I would do alterations on prom and homecoming dresses. I paid 20 last year on dd1`s prom dress for them to let the seams out a 1/4 inch on both sides. I don`t know what I was thinking but I told dd1 I could have easily done that.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on how I could make extra money and still be able to stay at home and homeschool?
When you get a line on something to do at home let me know. Here are all the things I do so that I can stay at home. I do daycare for a lady that works part time. I take in mending of different sorts but say no to zippers and harder stuff as I have low self esteem and do not think that I am good enough. I crochet dish cloths for a lady friend who provides the yarn and then she sells them at her craft shows and gives me a little from each sale. The income is not stable except for the daycare but it is enough for me to be able to pay our van payment every month and pay for my sons piano lessons and if I am lucky a few extra things. I also do surveys on the computer and those help a little (got some free things for christmas) and I also find free samples and you would not believe how those help. I have gotten free deoderant, shampoo, solution for sons contacts and so forth.

Cleaning houses is a big business around here. I think you could stay busy with that once the word gets out that you are cleaning again.
I use to iron and mend for people when I was a teen, I loved it.I charged by the piece, I don't remember how much though.
You could charge by the time involved in the whole batch of ironing, that is what I would do.
Just set a price for your time by the hour.
What about decorating cakes, you sure know how to do that.
