• Friday, November 23, 2007 - What happened on Thanksgiving
I was right in the middle of making a butterscotch pie and the phone rang. It was my aunt Frances calling asking me for my aunt Mary`s cellphone number. My aunt Mary went to North Carolina for Thanksgiving and wasn`t home. Aunt Frances said that something was wrong with papaw. I went over to see what was going on. My uncle said that by the time he got down there, papaw was out of it. He was laying on the love seat with the phone off the hook. Sauage was on the stove burning. When my uncle shook his arm and trying to get him awake, papaw started talking out of his head. He was so sleepy, he could not keep his eyes open. It was scary. But by yesterday evening he pulled out of it. My uncle took him home with him to stay the tonight. My papaw is 93 years old and I know my time with him is getting shorter. It is hard to know that. He was always a strong man and hardwork. It is hard to see him so fragile. I thank God for everyday he allows me to have with him.
I woke up early this morning to find snow on the ground. Cold and still snowing. Well have to go get ready to meet the bookmobile.
