• Sunday, November 18, 2007 - Just a couple of updates

I had post about two weeks ago about looking for a pregnant cow all over the hills at night.   Well she finally had it Tuesday.   I noticed after I got back from my trip.  She was over at the barn and I noticed she was licking on it.  I told my husband to come and look to see if it was hers or one of the other little calves.   He went over to check on her sure enough, it was hers.   It is a little bull calf, but in a few days he will become a little steer.   I am glad Bossom took him.  I was so afraid she would have been like Annabell and Horns. We are having to bottle feed their calves.    The milk replacer you have to buy is expensive.  Three calves would go though a bag in no time.   We have little brother and little sis on calf maker and they are growing.   Dh said it is good little brother is putting on the weight like he is because of dd2 raising him for 4-h.    She will be selling him.   This is a good way for her to get money  and start putting it in the bank for future use.
My brother Brian and Kristine have set a date for their wedding.  March 29.   Wonder how I am going to pull this off now.  DD1 18th birthday is March 28 and I was planning on having her an 18th birthday party.  I guess, I will have to plan it the weekend after.
Deer season is in and no deer yet.   I went to my aunts house to borrow shrub trimmers and while I was up there, I saw two nice does.   I have been trimming my shrubs with hand trimmers and now  I have some huge blisters.  My aunt told me she had electric trimmers and to come and get them.  Boy, did I take her up on that offer. But dh still has til the Sunday after Thanksgiving to get one or two.   We like to have the meat in the freezer.  Helps on the food bill.   It is also healthier.  Well I guess that is about all for now.
