A pic of my uncle removing a tree stump from his yard. He had a tree growing close to a shed and he was afraid it would fall on the shed. My uncle and husband rented a Cat Excavator. Helps when you hubby works for a Cat dealer.
Two of our baby calves. The one standing is little sis and little brother is laying down. DD2 will be raising him for a 4-H steer and will sell him next year at the fair. He is really gentle and will be easy for her to learn and handle. In the background is one of our horses Sally and the brown and white one is patches a gelding pony. DH and my uncle have been cleaning up brush behind the barn. You can see the excavator in the back. I took this during a break.
This was taken up next to the pond. DH and my uncle worked on cleaning out the pond until 10:00pm last night. Scooping out old pond mud. It stinks too! Well, not thinking they scooped the mud out and put it over the side of the pond and it rolled down onto the fence. So dh and I spent part of the day putting fence back up. They had to use the excavator to clear out bush and the old fencing first. The bank behind the Cat excavator is where they were clearing bush and cleaning up. The cows are trying to figure out what is going on. Tomorrow, they will be going way back on the hill and building a small pond. There are several natural springs on the farm and I want them to build a small pond back next to one for future use. Well I guess that has been pretty much our weekend so far, We just have so much work to do. We have a lot clearing and fencing to do. The joys of living on a farm, there is always work to do.
I wanted to let you know that this post was entered into the 23rd Homsteading Carnival!
