• Thursday, October 2, 2008 - Taking the day off

We are going to take the day off from school.   I have a lot of things I need to get done.  The kids and I are going to gather up apples and work in them.  I have a whole bunch of hot peppers I need to make into sauce and can it.  So far,  a five gallon bucket full.  I still have more in the garden.    I left some beans in the garden on poles and they are dried out now.  I am going to gather them and get my seeds up.  I have been hearing seeds are going to be hard to get next year.  So I am going to save a much as I can.   I have so many projects I need to do.  I have been sitting here thinking about what all I need and want to get done. Just not enough hours in the day.   After Christmas, things will slow down a lot.
Speaking of Christmas, I have been doing my Christmas shopping.  I am about done except for the kids.  I have a couple of things for them.   We are going to really watch what we spend.  It is just hard because we have so many to buy for.   Last year, we asked  everyone on dh side not to buy for us and the kids because we just didn`t have the money to buy for them.    Sure enough they still did.  We thought that would help them out to.   On my side, my brothers and sisters don`t by for each other. Dh has three brothers and two sisters and they all have it hard.   His one sister is a single mother of five kids.  They all just treated us funny at Christmas.  I guess, it was just a bad decision on our part.  What do you do when you just don`t have the money.  If we bought for everyone, we would be buying for about forty people.  I have started early this year and hopefully everyone will be happy. I can say I have found some really good deals.  Well better go and get busy.

Posted by Simplelife
We dont! Plain and simple.. We do get some that were upset at us at first but now its like a load off everyone.. My MIL still buys for all of us and thats fine she usually goes allout but not real expensive.. My parents buy for the kids. But my brother and his family dont buy for us and we dont buy for them.. We do get along.. My SIL's family isnt real understanding and they have a $25 limit for each person..... CRAZY!! We buy our kids something little that they want and we dontbuy for each other.. We spend the day just us together and playing and relaxing... It has benefited us big time!!

What's sad is that everyone else didn't follow what you asked. That isn't your fault. You did the right thing by starting early. Maybe you can make some things cheap too.

last year my mom said kinda what u said dont buy for us and we wont buy for you and then my grandma of course bought for us and then we didnt buy for her and we felt bad but this year my mom had a great idea to draw names each family draws a name and then u go buy 2 presents for that person they have to be under $40.00 so your family may want to start drawing names like us on my dads side we have drawn names since i have been alive which is 10 years so ... u might could suggest that and try that ....

remember peace not war !!!!!!!!!!!!
