Everything is still busy around here. Mom and stepdad was suppose to be back down here today but may not make it. They are busy getting their porch painted. They have a few little things to fix on their house before they can put it on the market. My brother and his wife are going to be moving in mom`s house until they sell it. So they have to be out by Aug. 15. Then my brother is moving in. His lease is up on his apartment first of September. Oh yeah, my mom and stepdad are going to be living in our camper until they get papaws house done. Can`t wait to see how that works out. lol
I received a letter from 4-h office today letting everyone know they will start doing farm visits July 29. Now something else to stress about. The poor old barn is one of the things I am behind on. I know I didn`t mention this but DH started a new job June 23. He works 10 days, off 4 days. So this weekend is his four days off. We are going to take one day and work on cleaning up around and in the barn. I would really love to build a new barn and we thought we would get to start on one this year. Well it takes money and we just didn`t have it. Maybe next Spring. It just keep my fingers crossed that a big wind doesn`t blow it over. The barn is about 67 or 70 years old. It has been a good one.
As far as canning goes, I can add 10 quarts of bread and butter pickles, 8 quarts and 1 pint of dill pickles to my list. I am trying to decide if I want to can anymore pickles. Pickles isn`t something we eat a lot of. I am going to have plenty of cucumbers. I have some zucchini to grated and put in the freezer today. We have some meat birds really to butcher this weekend too. Thankful my mom is going to let me use one of her freezers. I have one small freezer and one large upright freezer. I was wondering where I was going to put everything. Butchering chickens, a hog and a steer plus everything I am putting up from the garden. I am happy to have this problem tho. Because God is truly blessing us this year. Isn`t he GREAT!
My grandfather is doing really well. But his memory is getting worse. He ask the same questions over and over. He doesn`t remember anything about his fall or being in the hospital. I think, he was in there for 3 wks. He will be 94 the end of October.
Well I wish I had all kinds of great stuff to share but probably no more than what the rest of you all are doing. I am sure everyone is busy canning and keep your homes up.
I am a stay-at-home, Christian homeschooling mom. My husband and I have been married for 19 years. We have been blessed with three kids, ages 18, 10 and 8. We live on a family farm and have several animals. I`m just a simple farm gal, who loves her God, family, friends and life.
