Interesting....

Every once and awhile I go through my "favorites." I have a folder for blogs... some on homeschooling, some on unschooling, some on sustainable living... you get the picture. Somehow, sometime I came across this site http://cockeyed.com/ which is interesting sometimes when I'm in the mood. Today he has a link to http://www.allmylifeforsale.net where a guy is selling all of his possesions on ebay. He was inspired by the original idea at http://allmylifeforsale.com. It is all very, very interesting reading...

Spring on the home front

Posted in Gardening

Not much going on because we are super busy. We were out of town all weekend. This weekend we MUST get our garden beds ready. We have soccer ... but we still have to get it done. (Hubby isn't much for yard work.)

I did get some more seeds started: tomatoes, etc. My problem is that I don't have a good window where they get direct sunlight as long as they need it??? Maybe I should give up starting seedlings at my home. Maybe I should work towards getting a mini-greenhouse set up... so many ideas, so little time and money.

Boys, boys, and more boys

Posted in This n That

Wednesday turned into quite an eventÂ… after work I picked up Brandon and (unexpectedly) Riley and TA to watch them for a few hours. TA was put to bed early for not being nice and I told Susie they could spend the night since they were to return to my home at 7:30 AM the next morning. Too bad she didnÂ’t work in a romantic eveningÂ…

The boys were over all day Th and Fri. I was glad for a break.

Saturday Stephen and I spent most of the day at our DSS adoption training. Dear hubby was impatient and didnÂ’t want to participate much. We got through it and were let out early. However we have quite a bit of homework. The paperwork required is quite plentiful. The training went over a lot of what the children go through, etc.

Saturday night we decided to spend at home with BÂ… who had been at GrandmommyÂ’s all day.

Sunday we headed to church and then prepped for the skating party. B had a great time and just about everyone else did too. I have pictures of Mom and Dad skating. Wow. IÂ’ll have to post them. Thank goodness they didnÂ’t charge extra because we were way over the 10 limit. Almost all the adults skated. 16 skaters and 18 eaters. Afterwards we headed to Applebees for a real meal. It was good. I had steakÂ… which I donÂ’t normally doÂ… with grilled shrimp. It was all good.

Yesterday I spent with the boys again getting the house under control and vacuuming. The soccer coach called last night to inform that practice begins today! A little unexpected! So after work today we donÂ’t get to go home, but instead get to go to the library and get something to eat before 6:30.

Til next time!

Some seeds are up

Posted in Gardening

I planted brocoli, cauliflower, early celery, and onions (two types). I planted three of each except of the onions. I didn't think to look at the celery days to germination because they are paired in my six pack with brocoli... and aren't up yet. I might have to replant them by themselves.

I invested in two seed starter kits from that consists of a large bottom tray for bottom watering and then smaller 6-pack trays that fit on top with a large top to cover it all. My only complaint is that since I'm starting smaller quanities of each plant (for succession planting) that I have all this extra space, etc. Live and learn...

Busy Weekend

Posted in This n That

I had a good but busy weekend here. Stephen took off with the youth skiing in WV... about 8 hours away. I had a children's consignment sale to display at while Brandon spent most of his time at Grandmommy's with the exception of Friday when his Granny Hazel stayed here for the day. Thank goodness my business doesn't revolve around shows.

Saturday I received Un-Jobbing by Michael Fogler. It is a good quick read. However, you could study its concepts for decades. My main goal is how to restructure our lives so we can afford to live the way we choose... for me is close to home. We have a 6 year old and hope to adopt within the year or two a 4 year old to infant. In all likely hood, he will be 3-4. This will necessitate me staying close to home even more.

On the home front, I did get hubby to pick up some straw for the season today. I wanted him to ask a local vegetable stand who has 4 rain barrels if we could buy one. I don't see it in the yard so I wonder if hubby forgot to stop by there. Hubby isn't into yardwork or housework. However, he works a lot and I have to support him there.

I've got the boys over today so I've got to catch me a shower, fix supper, and then head out to "do" business tonight.

Today's List

Posted in This n That

I've got quite a bit to do today since I'm home (I work two days a week). I've got to do some laundry (hanging clothes to dry in the winter isn't the most fun... it kills my cuticles), get ready for a Cherish Bound gathering for tonight and for a weekend long children's consignment sale that begins tomorrow where I'll be displaying. I also promised to have a felt banner type thing for children's church ready for Sunday and a prayer meditation to turn in... Not to mention the seeds I need to start: onions, cauliflower, brocolli, etc.

I guess I need to get going... Have a great day!

P.S. Does anyone know how to add the calendar to their blog???

I just came across this new blog system with www.homesteadblogger.com. I like being around like-minded individuals, so this might suit me.
