hot busy summer

Image hosting by Photobucket

I was thrilled to see that I had another comment on my blog!  I have been so busy I had actually forgotten about this blog.  But I have it set up to be notified by email when I receive a comment.  So thanks for the friendly reminder!

My daughter-in-law is doing very well.  She is sore and tires easily but has been home on disability leave from work and with not having to stand all day she is much better.  She is also possibly having the baby any day now.  The original due date wasn't until July 22nd but the doctors now are thinking they were wrong and she could have the baby by the end of June.  I'm sure she won't be disappointed!

I have been ever so busy painting!  Since I haven't had my grandson almost daily as I was before I decided to take the time to get some of the things done that I have had in the back of my mind.  One being that I'm really sick of the brown paneled walls in this mobile home.  So I started with the kitchen and painted the entire kitchen a light cream color.  Then I painted the hallway.  It looks so much better~!

THEN, we had a new front porch built because the old one was falling apart.  So when they finished building it guess what..........the trim and rails needed to be painted!  So my husband and I painted that and as a matter of fact I just finished it this morning.

I'm now tired of painting and am done with it for now.  Maybe next spring will paint more walls.

I've had to get up at the crack of dawn to paint because it has been very hot here in the afternoons.  Actually by 10am the sun is too hot to paint.

Other than all my painting I'm busy with the usual duties of life.

Scrapbooking with my daughter when able to and swimming with grandkids and just being thankful for all my blessings!

Have a blessed day!

busy busy

Image hosting by PhotobucketYes I've been too busy to blog!  Watching grandkids, watching TV shows (gotta watch American Idol and Amazing Race!), spring cleaning fever and my daughter in law having an unstable pregnancy. She's now home on disablity and I'll be helping out as much as possible so she gets her rest.  She has two more months to go so we are praying.

I haven't been listing on ebay because my account was invaded by someone with too much time on their hands and messed it up and I'm trying to get that straightened out.

I haven't started my website yet because there's been too many other things going on.

I don't know how much time I'll spend on here but will try to stop in from time to time!

Hello Again!

Image hosting by Photobucket  Well I haven't been on here for quite awhile!  Seems life gets so busy and there are so many things on my to-do list that I feel like I'm going in circles most of the time.

Also spring fever seems to be all around and I've been trying to do more organizing and cleaning lately.

I'm also still working on trying to learn all the angles of starting up a website business.  Much more involved that I had thought so may take me awhile.

I need to also make another sweep through the house and list more things on eBay.  I will be listing more things this Sunday night so keep watching!

Taking walks and exercising is a must to try to keep on the schedule.

Of course I managed to sqeeze in a night of scrapbooking with my daughter.  I loaded up my carts and took them to her house and brought my curly little dog with me and stayed overnight.  We stayed up till 1am scrappin away.  We always have a lot of fun together.  The grandkids play and my dog makes himself at home while their new kitten bounces around him.

I've completed scrapbooks for my two oldest grandsons.  Now starting one for my granddaughter.  I am making one scrapbook for each grandchild up to the age of five and then they will all be combined into scrapbooks together.

I'll load up some photos also later this week of some pages I've done.  Since it's now 10:32pm here I don't dare start taking photos and loading them now.

No matter how busy life gets the most important thing is what God has planned for me today.  Waking up with that in mind always makes the day go smoother.

God Bless!

grandkids & websites!

Image hosting by Photobucket I haven't been on here much lately because I've been busy taking care of my grandkids, one who had strep throat.

I've also been trying to learn the business of starting my own website to sell scrapbooking supplies.  I have a feeling it's going to take some effort on my part to learn this!  I hope my brain isn't too old!

I've also been listing things on eBay to help with funds and also to clean out my house!

So keep checking my listings because I always start out the bid at 99 cents and usually have a variety of things.  I'll be listing more things tonight and tomorrow so check back!

There's always a link to my eBay listings on my sidebar >>>

So next on my list is to get ready for Easter.  I usually buy all my grandkids a springtime outfit and some kind of treat.  Now that the fifth grandchild in on the way I'll have to keep my spending at a minimum but if I enjoy spending on anything it is my precious grandchildren!

Trying to keep up!

I' ve been getting up earlier.  I've been doing at least 20-30 minutes of some kind of exercise each day even if it's yoga stretches or walking.  I've been trying to eat better!  I've been reading my bible each day.

I am also at the verge of starting something that I'm praying will work out to be a profitable buisness for me.  I'm not going to explain it yet because I want to see if it's going to work out.  It may take a few weeks before I know. WHEN the puzzle pieces start fitting together then I'll share it with you.  So prayers are welcome for God to direct me in the right path!!

I've tried to organize my entries into catagories but I see that even though I have the list on my sidebar and the entries listed for them it isn't working.  It just goes to the home page.......???  anyone know how to fix this?

ALSO,  does anyone have ideas on what to do with lemons.  I live in an area surrounded by lemon trees.  I don't even have any in my yard but I always have numberous lemons given to me by neighbors.  I use them in recipes sometimes but I need more uses for them.

What is your best Lemon pie recipe or other recipes using lemons?

Health & Spirit

I need a new start--I need accountablity!

I am confessing that I had become very dry in my spritual life.  I was feeling the dry empty place as a result of not having a daily quiet time with the Lord.  But God is so good.  I simply came to the point when I knew it was my own doing and that I had to make the first step.

The last few days I've begun my daily reading and praying again and I have already begun to feel the refreshing feeling God gives you instead of the dryness.

Also as a part of this refreshing feeling I have also come to the realization that I have not been taking care of myself physically either!

So I am now putting this in writing that I am going to get back to my "health & fitness" plan.  I will not say diet.  Diet is a four letter word that I don't believe in.  I believe that if I focus on the benefits of eating healthy foods and getting the physical activities I need I will get the results I need.  I am not obese, I'm just out of shape!

So who ever reads this can be my witness and hold me accountable!

Day at the Park

This is the most beautiful day outside!

It's about 75* , sunny and a slight breeze.  I'm usually worn out by the end of the day on Thursdays because I have my youngest grandchild from 7am - 5pm and he's four years old..busy!

So today I put him in the car along with the dog and we took my car to the carwash and drove through In & Out Burger and then to the park.  I've found a great park nearby that is clean , lots of grass  and playground.

We ate our lunch then he played in the playground while I either sat  or walked around the grass with the dog.........FOR THREE HOURS!

It was so relaxing for me and I had to tell him it was time to go he was enjoying himself so much.

Then we came home and he asked to get into the tub because he had so much sand on him.  Now he's playing cars on the floor and I feel so refreshed after being outside in the beautiful blessings of sun, trees, breeze !

Any ideas for me?

I'm just going to throw this out there and see if I get any responses.

I am 54 years old and stay at home taking care of my home, hubby, dog  and grandkids.  I'd really like to figure out a way to make a few dollars while I'm at home.  I don't have a real "career" experience except for childcare , some typing and data entry.

I tried the home party sales business and it just doesn't work for me.

I know there must be something out there that I could do a few hours a week from home to bring in some financial help.  Perhaps some kind of orders that need to be entered into the computer.

Anyway, does anyone out there have any ideas?

Some Photos to Share.

This was my grandma group hug!

All three tried to hug me at the same time

and we ended up on the floor!

This is my son laughing after the kids sang him their birthday song ""this is your birthday song, it isn't very long""....that was it!  It was his 31st birthday today.

The little blond on his left is his wife.  She's pregnant expecting their second son in July.  That will be my fifth grandchild.

His grandmother (my mother in law) is on his other side.

Here is my son playing Battleship game with the grandkids.

The little one in the red striped shirt is his son and the other three are my daughter's.

This is my daughter and I during our weekend of scrapbooking last week.

Her husband was on vacation and he took care of their three children and she had

a scrapbooking vacation over at my house for two days!

Leaky roof

I seem to always attract the weirdest things.  This time it's the leak in our office roof.  It has rained again today.  Each time it rains this roof leaks in a different area.  Conviently there is a shelf around the top of the wall about a foot below the ceiling. Right now instead of placing cute decorations on the shelf I have towels piled up along the shelf to catch the drips!\

I also don't understand the men who have contracting businesses.  How on earth do they stay in business?  I have called a couple of them to come give us estimates and they either don't call back at all or they call and say they will be coming out in a few days and call to make the appointment and then don't call!

The fact that we don't have the money to pay for it anyway makes it easy to not over react to their unresponsive behavior.

Maybe  God is giving us time to save up before the right offer comes to us.

Anyway, just thought I'd check in today and post something and the leak it now dripping so seemed like the thing to talk about!

Rainy weekend

It's suppose to be another rainy weekend.  So out with the bucket again to catch the leak from the roof!

I'd love to pull out my scrapbooking and get busy but I need to clean up my house.  I've began a re-organizing of things in this office area and it seems I've started something that takes more than my brain to figure out how to finish it.  I have such a small amount of space it's hard to figure out how to fit in an office / computer room / craft room / ebay room all into one!

Also I have our family coming over on Sunday.  It is my son's birthday, his 31st.......can he really be that old!  I'll have about 14 people here and 4 of them are the grandkids.  I'll be making my famous tacos.  Seems to be the only meal that everyone can agree on.

I just throw a roast into the crock pot and when it's done I shred up the meat.  I have all the fixings ready of lettuce, tomato, onions, olives, avocado, cheese cut up into bowls.  Then just warm up some flour tortillas and heat up some refried beans and set it all out on the counter with hot sauce and chips and let everyone fend for themselves!

There's usually sports on Tv and a deck of cards on the table and the guys watch sports and us girls play progressive rummy.

My house is small enough that even while doing both things we can all talk and visit.

The kids usually play well together also.

Of course there will be the famous family birthday song we will sing to my son.  The one where we all sound like howling wolves having our tails twisted!

I've been told that I'm having a problem again putting comments on my blog. I'm hoping it has cleared up because I'd love to communicate with you.

I hear the rain pouring outside!

sleepy day / full moon

I haven't been on here much lately but I'm just feeling very tired.  Hope I'm not coming down with something.  I'm blaming it on the full moon and the stormy weather.

I do have arthritis and suppose that it does effect me when the weather changes and especially when the weather is damp.

There is another storm on it's way here and suppose to be raining again tomorrow evening and into Saturday.

And the full moon this week!

How many of you believe the full moon effects people?

How many of you have arthritis?

If so what effects do these things have on you?

I'm going in next month to get some tests and hopefully see what kind of arthritis I have.

In the meantime I'm going to bed now and hope to have more energy tomorrow and also hope to get more photos uploaded next week and get more done!

God Bless!

scrapbook paper storage

Posted in Scrapbooking

After trying several different types of storage ideas I am really happy with this idea I came up with.

I am a scrapbook paper junkie.  I can't walk out of the scrapbook store without at least one sheet of that paper with the great designs on it!
But it became a problem to store all the paper and be able to see all of them in a way that allowed me to choose the right paper to go with my scrapbook page layout.

So I bought this cart at an office supply store. It's the perfect size for 12x12 paper. It comes folded up and when opened it locks into place and has a handle that you can raise high enough to stand and pull......since it also has wheels! Wheels are a great plus to me because I live in a very small house and don't have a specific room for my crafts. With this cart I can move it where ever I need to work comfortably. And it has a lid so when I'm not using it I can put the lid on and sit items on top and the paper doesn't get smashed.  It's a good sturdy cart capable of holding 70lbs.

I sorted all my papers by colors and patterns and then took large folders and cut them to fit and labeled each one by the color and pattern. Then placed the papers in-between each folder. THEN, there was still some room in the cart, so I took an accordion folder and labeled each space the same as I had the folders before. In this smaller accordion folder I put all the scraps of papers. Then put it in the front of the cart.

Now I can easily see all my papers and easily get them out to use and have the scrap pieces to match for my layouts!

Now, does anyone have ideas on a good way to store all my stickers?  I'm also a sticker junkie!

Rainy Scrapbook Weekend

Posted in Scrapbooking

It has been raining here in "sunny" California for four days now. We had hard rain, thunder, wind, and hail. Even snow in mountians 10 miles from us. It's still raining as of this moment......

It didn't do our leaky roof any good but I spent two of those days with my daughter scrapbooking!
I will be taking photos of the scrapbook pages I completed this weekend to show you.
But for now, here are a couple of layouts from the vacation my husband and I took two years ago. We traveled 7000 miles in 30 days and had a blast.

I used this calendar page to show where we traveled to each day with stickers of the states

This is the Grand Canyon. My husband's word for the day was "WOW"!

We even made it up into Canada to stay at Niagra Falls......my word for the day was also"WOW"!

It was so amazingly beautiful at the Falls

We had an amazing trip! I have a whole album of photos but thought I'd share these for now! Hope you enjoy!

What's Your Hobby?

I know there are a lot of creative people out there.  What are your hobbies?  What are your crafts?  Please share some of your ideas with me.

I love to scrapbook.  I have tons of photos and try to get together with my daughter once a month to scrapbook.  She's the smart one and has begun her albums now while her children are young.  I have 34 years of catching up to do since she's 34 , my son is going to be 31 next week and my fifth grandchild is on the way.  So I'd say that scrapbooking will be my busy craft for years to come!  I enjoy the thought of leaving photos for my great-great grandchildren to enjoy in years to come.  Not only are the pages more fun to look at and are fun to make but the journaling on the pages that tell the story of the photos is the most important to those in future years.

This is a layout from my heritage album. This is a photo of my mom's graduation in 1929.   My parents passed away four years ago and this album means the world to me.  This album is full of information of my ancestors and family that my children and grandchildren will be able to look back on and learn some of their history.

If you also enjoy scrapbooking and would like me to share more photos  please comment and let me know!
