Down Mulberry Lane

I Did It!!! LOL

Ok, I finally made something by crocheting without any outside help.  The girls told me that I am hooked.  I was so excited to do something and finish it and have it turn out... that I must have gotten a buzz as I also made a worm bookmark and I worked on a granny square without any help just to see if I could do it!  LOL

Here's the potholders that I made today.  They are a larger size.  Made in single crochet.  30 stitches wide and around 36 rows high.  I used a size I hook.  It took me an hour and 15 minutes to make one potholder.

I used yarn that has been travelling with me since I was living at home with my mother.  It was part of a blanket making kit that I got one year for Christmas from whom I no longer remember.  Now it's no longer setting in the box with the other yarns... it's "something!".

The girls saw me crocheting and they got their hooks and yarn out as well.  Megan made a hat, her own design using single crochet and lots of creativity.  Chelsea was working on crocheting in a circle and Katie was just simply practicing stitches trying to get them even.  Maybe I'll get the yarn out more often.  I've got plenty to use up.  My two potholders came from one skein with enough left over to make the worm bookmark and one large granny square.  I'll probably pull the granny square out and make another potholder.  I can sell those at Farmer's Market. . . I do not have enough of this color to make a blanket with granny squares, so that is why I think I will pull it out.  Chelsea was trying to figure out how many potholders I could make by the time Farmer's Market starts if I do one a day... I told her not to worry as I didn't have that much yarn and I was only using up what was "free" for me to use.

But if I can make 2 potholders per skein, I should be able to make a dozen more.  I don't know if they will sell.  Maybe I'll make some other things.  I haven't really crocheted anything and completed it. I've only helped work on my mom's projects when she took a break.  Now I may step out and try some more interesting projects... It was kinda fun, although I did get a headache from too much close eye work.  I will have to break up my projects to give my eyes a rest.

The costumes...

I had written that I was busy making costumes last month.  We finally got some pictures back to us of the cast in their costumes...

The costumes were made by my mother, my daughter, and myself.  You'll notice most of the cast are girls... even the ones with beards.

This one is my two daughters... Katie is the wiseman with the chin beard.  Paige is the little one, toddler Jesus (wearing a small man's t-shirt with a rope belt).  My mother who helped sew is the wiseman with the green and blue outfit (between Katie and Me).  I am the half image at the very right of the picture.

We had alot of fun doing the costumes, but I am sure glad that they are done.

Warmly, Melissa
