Pony Tempers...
We have a pony named Tonno. He is good natured for the most part. Since we got Ruthie, the horse, back... he has been so distressed about being apart from her... he whinnies and whinnies and whines. Oh My!
Yesterday morning, dh goes to leave for work and Tonno is just out in the front yard and Dh was unable to catch him, so called us from work to alert us in case we hadn't wandered out as of yet. We look outside and Tonno is pleasantly resting next to the paddock that Ruthie is now stabled in. Content that he is closer, I guess.
To do this, he had to lift the top rail off of our chain link fence which is 4 feet high. He then stepped and scrunched the fence down to crawl under the rail, yet over the fence. He acted as if nothing had happened. The fence actually didn't look too messed up, my daughters just noticed that the top rail was no longer connected to the posts. They put him back and within a few minutes, he again escaped... this time being watched. So, the next time they take him back, he is now getting a bit upset as he is taken away from his dear Ruthie. My oldest takes some twine and ties the fence to the top rail as Tonno had busted all the fence thingy's that attached the fence to the posts and the top rail.
Tonno has since not been able to rid the twine, so he is stuck in his paddock with some of our sheep.

I imagine we will give them together playtime again (the pony and horse), but dh wanted a bit if separation until Ruthie got used to getting worked with (by us) and had a routine, so that she didn't just go back in with Tonno and undo all that was done with her training. She doesn't seem to miss Tonno at all. Is aloof to much of his cries and even when he escaped near to her paddock, she just ignored him.
Katie said yesterday that Tonno has the heart of the horse that she wants, but he's too small of a pony for her to ride. She's hoping that once Ruthie is comfortable with her new routines that she will be more connected to her. She loves her Ruthie, but isn't sure the feeling is mutual at this point. LOL.
Warmly, ~Melissa
