I also forgot to mention in yesterdays blog that before I went out to my mom's house we went for a little drive (about 3 miles from my house) to the McKenzie River. It was so beautiful and William and Trevor loved it. They were finding sticks and using them to splash in the water, and throwing rocks in etc. We were talking about which way the water was flowing (west, and < way) and where they thought the water came from (the snow melted on the mountains, and rain) and where was the water going (to lakes and the ocean). They had fun with all of this new information and Trevor was using his newest word "current" to describe the river. Then a fisherman came and started fishing with his waders on and the boys got really excited because we had also been talking about what animals lived along the river. I would say "do you think there are fish in this river?" and they would say "yah" and then we would talk about what the fish ate (worms, bugs etc.) and then what would eat the fish (birds, bears, raccoons etc.) So it was a great learning day on the homestead/homeschool yesterday with many teachable moments!
