Cleaningbusy Tuesday did a lot of cleaning today; made my bed did dishes in cabin pulled out the fridge and--ugh!--there was so much filth, made my stomach turn, so nice to have that cleaned (only thing is, I can't get the fridge back up on the little flat board dh put it on, try as I did to get it back on there) I guess he put that under there to keep it from scratching the floor when moved? vacuumed the hallway, the pantry washed the floor in the entryway dusted the shelves in dd's room cleaned out a large plastic container that used to hold dog food in pantry (will put something else in there eventually) made girls' beds FridayBig Weekend For Girls: am taking the girls to dh's mother's after school to drop them off and their Aunt is picking them up later for a sleep over the girls are very excited about it; hope they have fun
So Far Today: made my bed did dishes
To Do: need to put the girls' stuff in the car vacuum my bedroom
Good news: I heard from an old girlfriend; she sent an x-mas card. I had lost her address way back (in fact, an entire address book, still don't have a few addresses of distant kin). Anyway, she is a head librarian for a medium sized community and her dh is starting his own law firm. She says she has five pets. It was good to hear from her. I sent her a New Year card in return because her card came right before x-mas. TuesdayToday's Projects: defrosting fridge in cabin (there was little food in there) did a few bills seeing what I need to buy to make soup gift jars for teacher gifts got the mail (heard from my mom; she sent me $25; plus I have $10 from way back, so will cash them sometime and take the money for Sat. when I'm meeting MIL and SIL and we are going to lunch and shop while my oldest dd goes to a birthday party.) If I didn't need the money so desperately I would not cash them, but seeing them now as a Gift from God. oh, dh got my stickers for my car; am so relieved about that. . . did not want to be pulled over for expired plates, etc. defrosting some raw liver for Bear, my dog. making roast with potatoes and carrots for supper (told dh he'd be eating like a KING tonight
made pumpkin pieMade pumpkin pie today.
Did dishes.
We watched the Beauty and the Beast Christmas together and then Little Women with June Allison and Elizabeth Taylor.
Just going to have pizza for supper. Washer WomanWashed a lot of towels today from helping youngest's dd dance teacher Monday. It was so warm that I hung them on the line for a while, so would dry faster in the dryer.
We have the town hall floor looking much better. Told her I'd help her wax it sometime.
Why all this? Well, when we had to impromptu use this place it was pretty dirty. The girls seemed to have the deer caught in the headlight looks.
Anyway, it is actually a nice dance floor, though it has a bit of a slope.
I cleaned quite a bit of the house, too.
I love Thanksgiving. I love the smells. I like being with my kids and husband and dog. WednesdayWent to get my turkey today, wanted a sixteen pounder, but could only find ones in the 17 pound range.
Did some laundry, a few dishes.
Kind of a slow day.
Oh, sent out a few Thanksgiving Day cards and plan to do some more. Bought a package of Turkey cards. Cleaned FridgeTGIF: Did dishes and cleaned out my fridge.
I think this made the dog happy. He got some old cream cheese and real grated parmesan cheese, along with a bit of bologna.
I wanted to get it cleaned and ready for Thanksgiving. It tells me what I have enough of, also. For some reason I have four bags of ready to eat baby carrots.
It snowed here, just a dusting, though, they had predicted 3 to 5 inches. So I am not working outside today. dry pond This is where I worked today; inside this dry pond. The trees are bare now and grass has died back with brown leaves on the ground. The rocks are where I have to walk up; or climb up the edges, hanging on to brush to climb the steep banks.
Mining PondAfter I got my laundry done, I decided to take a walk down our new trail through our woods and then over to our field. Took the dog with, as usual, and stopped at our little mining pond. It is a hole in the ground from perhaps a dynomite blast? or something man-made. I will have to look on our abstract again and see what it says.
Anyway, I put the dog's leash on a cut off birch trunk and started picking up rocks on the bottom of this dry pond. The ground is hard now and you can walk on it. In the Spring, it is usually full of water about two feet deep. Then in summer it is mostly mud.
So, one thing leads to another and I can't resist trying to remove the debris that I cannot get to most of the year. So, after a trip back to the house, dog in tow, I came back with bags, a rake and branch lopper offer.
It's not easy working in this pit, as the edges are steep. One part is covered with field rock and hard to maneuver over. This past summer, dh removed a whole bunch of barbed wire from all along the steep banks (with waders on).
I picked up bottles, huge pieces of glass, very thick and heavy, some sort of old electric charger?, cans, just lots of junk because I guess that's what people used to do with land and garbage. What a spot to pick, though, when it could be so pretty. I raked some, also, and bagged one bag of leaves.
Piled lots of branches into a pile at the top. Not sure what to do with that. Maybe burn it when there is snow on the ground. So my goal is to clean out the psuedo-pond and have it looking like you'd want to swim in it. Though it'll only ever be a mud pond. Around the HouseWaiting for the kids to get off the bus; should be home in about fifteen minutes.
My youngest has dance class tonight.
Dh is putting snow tires on my car after work, so he will be a little late.
I have to go to the store during dds dance class.
Around the House today, I got a lot done from laundry, dishes, to some yard work.
My favorite days are when I can just stay inside to bake--at least in the cooler months.
Leaves, Leaves, Leaves!
I have been bagging leaves and putting them around our cabin and mobile--this does not look all that attractive, but hoping it insulates things some. They are even in double stacks on the north side of our cabin.
I'm tired of bagging leaves!
