A quiverful day:)
Blessings! Above is a picture of the childrens camp down in our lower pasture. You can see the small "dog tent" is their supply tent. It's where they keep their cooking gear, extra candles, matches, blankets etc. They also keep their food in it. They learned long ago to NEVER keep food inside the tent you sleep in:) And their firepit off to the right. They cook all their meals there. This afternoon I was blessed to visit with my friend CaraDD and her children. We spent time sipping coffee, looking at new baby bunnies, playing with baby goats and kittens and taking a wonderful meal together:) My fellowship with CaraDD is such a wonderful blessing for me and I think my Heavenly Father "Dailey":P for bringing them into our lives. As usual, before I leave for home I got the same question we always get..."Mrs. B can we spend the night at your house?" They always know that most times the answer is yes but we have to "give them the business" first:P Yep...you guessed it...my lower field is filled with 5 giggling girls from 7 - 17:) They readied their camp, got their fire glowing enough to do their smorish thing (I have no idea how much they ate and I don't want to know:P) and here it is 1:39am and no sign of them...I think they finally made it all night this time:) (I couldn't sleep:s) We got back to the house in time to feed the baby buckling. They gave the horse a bath, then jumped in the pool for a couple hours of giggling and performing. I was the judge and they chose "categories" for different jumps (no diving allowed) into the pool. Things like, jazziest jump, most musical jump, most splash, least splash, most noise, least noise...you get the picture. It was my job to choose who had done the best job of it. After an hour of that I think my mind took a little snooze so they all came in as winners:) Finally, after two hours of refusing to admit they were getting cold and wrinkled, they finally gave in and came in to take showers and don jammies:) They all jumped in to handle the evening tasks of milking, rounding up chickens into the henhouse, feeding animals and bedding them down for the night. As I always say..."Many hands make light work".:) It was done quite quickly and they were ready to "go to camp":) This is our Sarah, after getting all scrubbed up from swimming and tasking, getting the candles set in the lanterns for the night. They insist this is the only light they want to use while they are down there. No "modern" things:) Well, except maybe the smores:) After they went down to their camp I was alone in the house for a bit as Brother Craig hadn't gotten home from his Wednesday night Training Officer job. It gave me time to reflect on what a blessing it is that our children, despite what my family (parents, aunts, brothers etc) think about how we raise them, have decent, godly friends. Children that I know are safe. I know and am comletely at peace with all of them down there without grownups to interfere with their imaginary play. I know that if I happen to wander down that way they won't feel "spied" on or intruded on. In fact, they often invite us down there to partake of their fun:) Children that can have fun even with us old folks:) I know they are safe. I know they will watch out for each other and that ungodly things just aren't part of their adventures. They keep each other in check and help each other when they are getting overly busy:) The youngest is quite the sugar rush. She sweet and fast:) She gets giggly and sometimes just needs to be on someones lap for a little bit:) And she really enjoys my eldest girl, Mary-Ann. Who, by they way, has taken a shining to the two youngest girls:) Do they get on each others nerves? Oh sure:) Who doesn't from time to time? But they always seem to handle it all very well. They each know when they just need a little time alone to readjust. They forgive each other their transgressions and strive to uplift each other when one is feeling downtrodden. I just can't imagine my life without children in it. The more the merrier:) I pray that my son and his bride to be will have many children. I pray they will begin that immediately after they are married:) Lord willing:) Well, I think I'm finally getting a little on the nodding side so I best take advantage of it and try to get some sleep. Morning comes awful early here on Heavenly Acres and I need to get some seeds in the ground before I leave for my ultrasound. (No I'm not pregnant:P I am having my throat done to check on glandular growth). God be with thee! Sister Lori { Last Page } { Page 206 of 239 } { Next Page } |
